Notes - friends and family

Time for bed. You arrived home Tuesday after leaving Jim and Jeanne's in Atlanta area and stopping at the new museum in Oak Ridge. You arrived at Jim and Jeanne's on Saturday and took in the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library on Sunday and the World of Coke-a-Cola on Monday -- a delightful time with friends. You have continued to have a good time with Craig and Alta. Tomorrow you four are having lunch with Kim and the boys before dropping Craig and Alta off at the Columbus airport at three, after which you will return to Kim and Paul's for the evening and bringing the cats home Saturday morning. - Amorella

2226 hours. Friends and family are the most important aspects of our lives as we grow older; things, not so much.

Notes - elevator plus /

Bedtime. You four had a busy day first watching the rough snarly waves for an hour or so from the balcony after breakfast. Lunch at Frida’s was postponed until one (because of late breakfasts). You each split a sandwich and each had her/his own dessert from the bakery. After which you drove up to Clearwater Beach and returned only to stop at Publix's before the condo. Once at the condo you four plus one other adult got on the elevator to go to the first floor, the other passenger, an older woman was heading to the third floor. The door shut, the elevator rose about a foot, clicked, shut down and the inner door opened half an inch. You tried to pry open the door with your cane to no avail. It was hot. Craig suggested 911. You called, mentioned your name, the fact five were stuck in an elevator at Kimi Condominiums at 14300 Gulf Boulevard in Madeira Beach. The kind lady on the other end asked if anyone was injured and in any way indisposed and you responded, no. She said the fire department would be there shortly. They responded within five minutes. The men worked from the outside; suddenly there was a loud click, the elevator dropped a few inches with a quick shudder, then moved to the first floor, stopped, and the door opened normally. Everyone got out. You and Craig stopped and talked to separate firemen explaining what had happened. The firemen then sealed/keyed (locked) the elevator doors on each floor and then left.  The whole ordeal lasted fifteen to twenty minutes. Later, Alta suggested Original Pizza for supper, you got an extra-large, half deluxe, half Hawaiian pizza. You each had two pieces. A stop at the grocery on the way home. Craig and Alta had a walk on the beach. You all watched "The Rachel Maddow Show" and half of Lawrence O’Donnell’s "The Last Word" and decided it was time for bed after snacking on M&M's and pretzels and soft drinks. - Amorella

2252 hours. That is pretty much it. We thoroughly enjoyed the day along with having the extra excitement of being stuck in an elevator for less than half an hour. Something unique to talk about, except for Craig who had been stuck for two hours in an elevator at the state capital in Columbus in his thirties. Two of his students (visiting the state capital) were also with him. The other students and other teachers continued their tour -- I think that is how it was. We were surprised he had not told us about the story before. Alta never mentioned it either.

Notes - VaS /

Morning. Carol spent the night at Linda's and she, Linda and Jean are shopping at West Shore Mall this morning. This gave you time for solitary relaxation; that is the goal. She will call as they leave the mall and you will head over to pick her up (you assume lunch will be nearby before returning to the condo). Craig and Alta are scheduled to arrive at Tampa International via Southwest at three-forty. The waves are heavy as it is near high tide and they are three to five feet in height. - Amorella

1023 hours. One of the fun relaxations is to observe the high and churning waters along with wave fluctuations due to wind and undercurrent. I have the sliding door open about an inch to hear the dynamics -- I keep flashing to the old Victory at Sea footage from the front of a ship. -- Time to pick up Carol.
