Notes - the house / visitation

       Sunday afternoon. You have been neatly hanging clothes, clearing the clutter in closets after buying more Staples business boxes one marked 'Carol: books' the other 'R's stuff/basement' [files]. Carol has been working on her desk in the kitchen. The 'office' files are already at Kim and Paul's or shelved in the basement for moving. Kim has been in touch with your realtor, Susie G. (her son Luke was a student of yours and he is a realtor with Susie also). Susie worked with your retired realtor when Kim was in high school also working with your realtor at the time. Once the carpet is in you can move ahead for an 'opening'. - Amorella

       1352 hours. We will all be happier when this selling is sold and we can focus on moving or staying in place depending on what we and the new owners want to do.

       Late Friday afternoon, you and Bud C. went to see the Grimsleys at Rich's visitation in Mt. Washington down near the river. You both knew no one but the immediate family. You expected to see some from Rich's work (as you sometimes had lunch with them too) but none showed up while you two were present. - Amorella

       1358 hours. Visiting with Jessie was the saddest. Later, I saw her looking my way from afar and I broke into tears myself and hid in a hallway until I recovered. Just a glance through watered eyes, and we immediately drilled into deeper, silent memories of her family and our family together on one adventure or another -- be it Disney World or a weekend of sailing or just getting together. Angie, his second wife, seemed a bit surprised that Rich told me about his heart attack last year because he rarely talked about his health. She said his passing was not entirely unexpected but it was at the same time. No one said outright but I assume it was heart failure. One of his favorite works of 'art' was a blown up photo of a computer chip. Typical Rich., a software engineer extraordinaire. I took an angled picture of it.

       More focus on the house after lunch and after Kim called with more information. Carol has been reading you bits and pieces from the booklet the realtor had left some time ago but you forgot about telling Carol and fortunately for you she found it and has been going through the literature. You just want to take a nap. Later, young man. Post. - Amorella

Notes - Rich Grimsley, Rest in Peace

       Early this morning Bud Cancasci sent you a short note informing you that his and your friend from the early eighties, Rich Grimsley died last night. Early on at age two or so Rich's daughter, Jessie and Kim became friends thus the Orndorffs became friends of Louise and Rich Grimsley who eventually had John and Brian, younger brothers of Jessie, and Bud and Sue Cancasci and their younger daughter Mandy, sister of Julie. In preteen years the three girls, Kim, Jessie and Mandy went to several music concerts together chaperoned by you three fathers. Wonderfully shared memories. - Amorella

Notes - to have some thoughts

       Evening. You had leftover Carol's meaty chili for lunch and leftover dinners from Potbelly's lunch yesterday. Carol worked on the closet in the guest bedroom and you prepared to work on your closet in one of the two closets in Kim's old bedroom. You both took well needed afternoon naps after which you ran errands and stopped by Buddy's Carpet near the corner of Tylersville and Cox Roads. The salesman, Steve is coming out with samples and to take measurements between eleven-thirty and noon on Wednesday. You are hoping to have the carpet order in by Wednesday night. He said he might be able to have it cut and installed in a week rather than two. You hope this is plausible. Tonight you watched NBC and ABC News as well as a recent "NCIS" and the first half of Rachel Maddow.  - Amorella

       2148 hours. The only thing funny about Donald Trump is the portrayal of him on "Saturday Night Live" otherwise he is becoming his own worst nightmare. The Republicans who put up with him are worse than the President is.

       Are you speaking of classical sins here, orndorff? - Amorella

       2153 hours. Yes. I can't think of them -- greed and pride come to mind -- pride is first then greed. I used to know them all when I taught Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales" and Milton's "Paradise Lost".

       You used to become depressed in March which was triggered by "Paradise Lost". - Amorella

       2157 hours. It started with the Ides of March and Caesar's assassination which coincided  with background and teaching of selections of "Paradise Lost". The Fallen Angel had no chance in Milton's wonderful work, none; He was done in by his own pride and arrogance which ironically helped allow human beings a sense of Free Will. That's how I see the story.

       Do you think Satan is a real fallen angel? I ask because you capitalized Fallen Angel. - Amorella

       2206 hours. I think Satan is a personification of what we consider are the sins or deep moral weaknesses within us human beings. I usually capitalize "Angel(s)" out of respect on their plausibility just as I capitalize "G-D" out of respect of a Creator or our personification of a Creator. (2211)

       Time out to help Carol find the TV remote for the bedroom. We searched on two floors. She found it in the small bedroom where she was working on the closet.

       2225 hours. These events happen one to three times a month. One of us misplaces something. It is usually found, except for my two sets of car keys that cost us about two hundred dollars each to replace. In the meantime I seemed to have lost interest in the list of sins and fallen angels.

       You have not lost interest in Chaucer or Milton though. - Amorella

       2231 hours. I have been lucky in my life to have come across and 'known' such writers and their works. I am a reader who has read a selected world of wonderful and creative minds. I have taught selected such writings for my professional lifetime and indeed have been quite fortunate. In the English speaking world, nothing comes close to some of the literature of Chaucer, Milton, Shakespeare and Melville. As I taught them I studied them year after year. There is a wealth of the basic human condition in those and many other world writers. The better, the more intimately we understand the basic human condition from birth to death the better we understand our 'condition' in the world that is our school yard.
