Notes & Draft of Scene 15: Chapter 3

Paper and breakfast and it is just mid-morning or O900 hours. Mid-afternoon is always 1500 hours.

I like the twenty-four hour clock, it is easy to get used to and is less confusing in the long run. South America and Europe run on it, but not us. I don’t know why. I am excited to begin again on chapter three. It seems easier now that I have a good set up. Once I finish this chapter I will jump right in and make the audio for Aunt Patsy and Uncle Ernie. Who would have ever thought it would be a good way for me to edit the chapters as I go along? Not me, that’s for sure.

Now, let’s get to the topic at hand, scene fifteen of chapter three.

You have posted scene fifteen and as it is mid-afternoon, time for a break.

I was ready to work on the next scene. I had a nap earlier, and read the Newsweek that arrived today. I don’t feel like another nap. Only one new show on tonight and I am looking forward to it at eight. The rest is reruns because of the Olympics. Carol has them on. I listen sometimes. It reminds me of the old radio shows before television. It is still pleasurable to listen. I watch when she calls me in to do so. I should be more interested in sports I suppose. I respect the athletes. Lots of self-disciple and work. Nothing comes free for either the losers and the winners.

You are sitting in the parking lot at Kroger’s on Tylersville waiting for Carol after a good Wednesday special for supper at the local pub. Scene sixteen returns to Thales who is about to have a mystical experience which is difficult for you to imagine given the fact that he is dead.

It doesn’t make sense, Amorella. What is HeavenOrHellBothOrNeither if it I not mystical? I realize the setting is existential, in fact, I guess it fits with my Facebook explanation of ‘religion’ as I put myself down as a ‘transcendental existentialist’. I had not thought of that before as far as I can remember. So, what kind of spiritual level is going to register in Thales’s mind? Or, is the experience in his heart? I don’t know where a mystical experience registers exactly. I haven’t thought about it before other than it being spiritual. It must be the heart, although as Reason plays such a part behind the setting’s construction maybe it is in the mind instead. It is interesting to think about: ‘where does a mystical experience originate? The heart, soul, or mind?  It can’t be the soul because it is already experienced in the ‘other world’ whatever it might be, as it is already immortal. Or, can it? Fun thoughts at the Kroger’s parking lot.

Let’s take one of your sketches as an example of where I am going with this. Find them and I’ll pick out the one I want to use here. You found both, the sketch and the explanation. Both are dated. Let’s see what you can do with making them clearer so I can lead you through this concept. – Amorella.

First, the sketch was drawn in September, 1987, while the explanation of the ‘sharing of souls’ was illustrated 23 March 1985. We are going to use both to create this next scene. Here is the sketch:

Below is the explanation of the sharing of two human souls by diagram or illustration while they are living. An important component of this is the representation of the Dead is connected with the Living in this process of sharing, something you think is akin to metempsychosis which is the transmigration of souls. For you this is the transmigration of a part of one’s soul into the soul of another and vice-versa, a unique and complete sharing, as if the two souls were metaphorically shaking hands or kissing.

I forgot about this diagram of the concept of the sharing of two human souls, one with the other. I had to search through a multitude of folders to find it. I don’t really understand how to explain it or, more accurately, put this and the sketch into writing as a mystical vision by Thales. And, even if it can be done, I don’t see the relevance to the story. I assume that if it is included there will be some significance to it later. Actually, I assume this for everything in these chapters and through the remainder of books.

It is important not only to these three books but also to the previous three. Everything has to fit into place to make this the unique series it will be. – Amorella.

Amorella, you are putting me on the line here. I don’t know how many times I have felt this way through the first three books. This is far too much for me to comprehend at once.

This is the reason the concept of time exists in the human mind orndorff.

I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to try an absorb this. I did scribble down a note that I feel is important in all this. It is from The Angels and Us by Mortimer Adler, published in 1982. The key is “angels are objects of thought not imagination” that is what I have in my notes from those days. Now, the question is, which is more imaginative, the heart or the mind, at least as far as these books are concerned.

Tomorrow then, old man. – Amorella.

Scene 15
This is the Supervisor. Modern science has catalogued a variety of aspects of behavior that include both the lesser animals and the higher primates such as chimpanzees and apes. Human beings are classified as highest primates, but in here that is a misnomer. Human beings are a species with deeper hearts, deeper souls, and deeper minds. By that, I mean human beings are multi-dimensional in their perceptions of themselves and others of the same species. This is one of the reasons they jump the line when it comes to physical death. In here, they not only can, they will, whether they like it or not. Jumping the line coming into the physical world holds the same psychological properties. You arrive, and if you have family or friends you survive and learn to deal with it.

The species with the deeper hearts, deeper souls, and deeper minds also looks at the physical universe differently also. Poetry and Science (Mathematics and its Theories included) are one in the same when the categories are not poetry and science, the category is the human perspective first and foremost. Categories are secondary to the highly intelligent creatures who made them up. Philosophy, which includes the religions of the world, and its Cultures are secondary to the creatures who made them up. Poetry, Science, Philosophy and Cultures do not make the jump from physical death in these books, the unconsciousness and consciousness of individual people make the jump and within this sense of consciousness human reason and the grammar of language make the jump. This is and will be a relative truth in the six books of this Merlyn’s Mind series. The seed Thales is searching his heart for is ground in Reason and grown in Grammar.

Strip the individual Dead of herorhis poetry, science, philosophy and culture and what do you have? What is left of a human mind and heart without these things? It is no wonder the newly Dead seek out their own. This is what the newly Living do. Why should it be any different? The only differences are core personality and memory of self-study and of experience. Within this novel framework, the Golden Rule becomes the standard for survival in a group of the same species. The Golden Rule is the atmosphere the Dead must breath to survive as a group. Human beings are built to survive as a group when Dead. The living reader doesn’t have to agree with any of this, even in basic principle. Such is the underlying humor throughout this series.
