About four in the morning you awoke with “place” on your mind and it dawned on you that your mind is a place and the book is a place from my perspective, and that the traveling mode is by thinking in procedures just as you do with reading – logic, grammar and definition – that the place [the noun] has to be recognized and accepted in text first then absorbed as a reality like the rules of chess have to be as accepted as a reality as the physical board and pieces. You, Richard, are as the chess pieces and board and I, Amorella, am the rules. – Amorella.
Again, I am glad you signed. This makes sense to me yet when I began I stumbled with the concepts and wordage in my head and you took over. In some ways this is like stuttering was to King George VI. Sometimes I can’t form the concepts into words. I will have to “absorb” this so I can better understand it as being ‘authentic’. Also, I am curious as to what it is to be in the Supervisor ‘digit’ in the book. It should help me “to imagine”.
Sounds like a plan, old man. Also, when you awoke a little while ago, your hands were in the motion of pulling an arrow back from a bow as if you were about to loosen it.
That’s true. I forgot. How could I? It was so very odd. The first thing I thought of at that moment was ‘Sophia was pulling an arrow’ to begin the scene. I don’t know why, but I could sense this is how it is for the Dead in the book. I opened my eyes and saw my arms and hands in motion. It was very much like watching a stage production of Our Town.
Progress. Post. – Amorella.
You are at the south end Kroger’s waiting for Carol who is running errands for Mary Lou. You were suddenly thinking – “I wasn’t watching Sophia with my eyes. How did I watch her this morning?”
You said the ‘dream-like sequence’ was like watching a stage production of Our Town which it wasn’t of course. You ‘sensed’ Sophia through her motions, from the inside, so to speak and visualized it in your head.
I didn’t know I could do that.
As far as the books are concerned you can do more than you think to immerse yourself into the book and its characters.
Perhaps in bits such as above. I am a the chess board and pieces, I am physical. You are rules and not physical in the same context. Even written rules are not physical, they are as the books.
As you are curious about my being in a digit, then let me do the traveling as I don’t have a physical reality to lose. – Amorella.
That’s fine. A new rule. One that allows me to not go too near the edge of sanity.
How about, “Your wish is my command”?
No way.
You needed to get that out of your system. – Amorella.
You see, this is how culture is. Concepts pop up from the unconscious mind, from nowhere. The sense of ‘power’ conjures up such images. I am surviving quite well without a sense of power and I wish to continue to do so.
I wouldn’t be here if that weren’t the case. – Amorella.
I received a note from Doug this morning after he read yesterday’s blog.
Dick,
Very interesting blog on whether numbers are real. In an absolute sense they are real only in association with our understanding of what we are trying to describe. . . .
Doug
I feel very comfortable with his “[numbers] are real only in association with our understanding of what we are trying to describe.” I feel comfortable about saying the same thing about you, Amorella. This allows you (in my mind) to be a real reality in that context.
This is acceptable to me. Otherwise, you expend more than needed mental energy on a point of being you cannot accept. You will see that less is more in terms of mental energy. In this way I can better explain how it is to be in a digit in a book from my perspective. Again, however, this continues to be a part of your original experimentation with ‘unconscious’ writing.
Very good. Continuity is important, extremely important from my perspective. I am looking forward to your description(s).
More progress. Post. – Amorella.
Coming on mid-afternoon. Lunch for you and Carol at Max & Erma’s in Westerville on Maxtown Road. Stopped by with treats from Schneider’s Bakery for Aunt Patsy and Uncle Ernie. You feel bad that you did not have an oral draft of chapter six for them. Carol has decided she is staying with Mary Lou until Friday as she is slowly recovering from a virus. Thus, you will be here to go to tomorrow nights Class of 1960 gathering but, alas, without your camera.
Twenty hours. Carol is upstairs talking to her sister. You just returned from Best Buy with another new toy. In-ear headphones by Klipsch, Image S 4 model. You are quite happy with them as you love to listen to the digital stations on you iPad.
I don’t know if I am ready to hear your description of how it is in a fictional digit. Since I cannot imagine, it is a little scary.
I already understand, boy. You are skittish like your cat. You are too observant of things that appear to matter in your existence. And, scatterbrained about things that are in the normal range of many peoples’ daily observations. This is built in and a reason why you are still enthusiastic about literature; and another reason why you are in the existential situation you continually find yourself. Enough for tonight. – Amorella.
