Mid-morning. You need to remember the ‘religious affiliation’ you placed on your Facebook page.
It is not in mind, Amorella, except existential is a part of it. Marsupial existentialist comes to mind out of the blue. I know that is not right. Transcendental existentialist or existential transcendentalist, one of the two. And, I realize there is a difference on which is the adjective, but I cannot remember what I put.
You need reminding.
It isn’t on my Facebook profile anymore. I think I put existential transcendentalist, that’s what I feel at present in any case. That is what I am if someone asks my religious affiliation. However, I was raised officially as Presbyterian.

existential (adjective)
of or relating to existence.
• Philosophy concerned with existence, esp. human existence as viewed in the theories of existentialism.
• Logic (of a proposition) affirming or implying the existence of a thing.
Transcendentalist, derivative of transcendentalism (noun)
1 an idealistic philosophical and social movement that developed in New England around 1836 in reaction to rationalism. Influenced by romanticism, Platonism, and Kantian philosophy, it taught that divinity pervades all nature and humanity, and its members held progressive views on feminism and communal living. Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau were central figures.
2 a system developed by Immanuel Kant, based on the idea that, in order to understand the nature of reality, one must first examine and analyze the reasoning process that governs the nature of experience.
Adopted from the American-Oxford

I would agree although with Kant, it is not just the reasoning process that governs the nature of human experience, it is also the process of the interaction of the individual's soulanbodyanmindanheart.
Now, you see where you are. Post. – Amorella.
I need to add this philosophy, not religion, is based on self-examination and relentlessly questioning reality not on belief.
I agree, this is your position. Now, why don’t you take the ‘Belief-o-matic’ quiz as it has been a year or so. --
I have just retaken the quiz and I have not changed my beliefs according to the Beliefnet quiz (which I have taken several times since 2001. Here is the present list of faiths to which I may prescribe in 2011 if I so desired (that is none of the three would be considered hypocritical choices in my mind - though I lean to the first two).
1. Reform Judaism (100%)
2. Liberal Quakers (88%)
3. Unitarian Universalism (84%)
From: beliefnet.com
I used to be surprised on the Reform Judaism, but the same response on the quiz has been prevalent. I think the quiz has been well thought out and each time I deliberate and don’t always choose the exact same responses.
I agree. Post. – Amorella.
I have a question. In responding the quiz questions and corresponding set of responses what goes on in the decision-making, that is, are heartansoulanmind in on the decisions?
In your case they were because you want to remain free where it counts most. This was at my request and the results are in the blog. Consistency within the framework of the blog is very important. I said I would keep you honest-minded within the blog. I am. I am the gift not the giver of the gift.
I won’t ask.
It is just as well because I won’t answer.
This appears to cover today’s blog.
The coverage is to the point. Let’s let it go at that. Post. - Amorella
About time for bed, but as I look over what was written this morning it appears I broke a cardinal rule and threw religion into the fold.
At my request, orndorff. You stated it is basic in your philosophy and you said belief wasn’t a part of your existential transcendentalism. This gave the implication you had no beliefs which is not true, that is the reason I requested the Belief-o-matic quiz. You need to see that you do have beliefs and that even an agnostic at heart (are you getting this?) does not mean you do not have tendencies towards religious beliefs. You mutter to yourself that these beliefs are culturally induced, but that is not completely true, deep inside you have spiritual convections as well as reasonable doubts just like everyone else. You are not a complete agnostic; if you were you would not have doubts on the subject. Being human brings with it many complications for consideration. You will see this philosophical conflict grow within Merlyn.
Taking this a step further – look at the fractions in politics today – in many countries, including your own. People who say “it is my way or the highway” from many parts of the state and federal capitols. Because of your timeline in the world you are constantly reminded of how the Nazis rose to power. Then you roll Brave New World, 1984, Animal Farm and Lord of the Flies over and over in your mind, books that reinforce your thinking.
These Merlyn books and blog are not about those things, even the last book is not about what you would like it to be about – a political piece of satire. And, the books and blog are certainly not about a lightly disguised religious satire either. No Da Vinci Code here, boy. The world is not as it seems out there, and it is not exactly as it seems in here either – this is the human condition as I, an imaginary outsider if you will, see it. Post. - Amorella
