Tony, his wife, Maria, first generation Italians (now U.S. citizens), are at the house leveling the large flat stones on the walk to the front porch. You are pleased with them first as decent people. He came to the U.S. through Canada as his brother had earlier. No work in Italy early in his life, worked in German manufacturing after W.W.II, then to Canada, then to Cleveland where he worked for General Electric for thirty years before retiring. In Italy Tony started as a stonemason and now that he is retired he works in his own stone construction company. He has three children. He has two homes he built himself, one is similar to what one might see in an upgraded neighborhood – a full stone and brick house with 3500 square feet of living space. This is the one he is going to sell when the market gets better; they live in the other smaller home nearby. And, when the climate in Italy is better they are returning for a summer with their family. – Amorella
I have great respect for Tony and his family. Good solid moral values and determination and study and work for a lifetime. I like him. His face is structured like one that rests on the statue of an ancient Roman Senator, General or Emperor. Tony has an engineering mind that goes back to his early days as a stonemason. This shines in his work; the stone laid sidewalk is now raised and looks brand new. Small minute details count in this man’s mind. So, here is a tip of the hat to a witty older Italian-born fellow with a beautiful accent and true craftsman’s mind. So good is the world to have such people in it.
