Late morning. You are having a new automated
humidifier installed on the furnace. The old one was twenty years old. This one
has sensors inside and outside the house and is supposedly much more efficient.
- Amorella
I
like the A-Class Ship. All the computerization is embedded below the skin much
like muscle in a body. Very cool.
The technology is quite sophisticated and
beyond present earthly thinking. Metal and plastic are no longer used but the
feel of Ship's skin is like that of an old 1960's black dial telephone casing.
The components are superior to anything natural because they were and are being
created by people who put their heartsansoulsanminds into the process first, and
then this is refined and refined again, always for greater safety and efficiency
in operation. Ship realizes what he is, a machine with the heartsansoulsanminds
of all who are aboard. He is not a servant of the people though as he is
responsible for the safety of Ship and the people, the pilot and passengers onboard.
He acts for the best safe outcome possible in any given situation. - Amorella
What
a thought comes to mind - how boring must this flight be.
1057 hours. Is this right? Ship constantly
reads the facial and body language as well as the physical reading of each
passenger with double weight place on the pilot.
Not bad, orndorff. Triple weight on the
pilot though. That's right. Ship cannot 'know' the actual heartansoulanmind of
each marsupial humanoid but he (Ship is designated male by intent; captains or
pilots are usually female) 'understands' what is going on within each passenger
and pilot with whom he is 'married' for the trip, as it were. - Amorella
This
sounds a little much, Amorella. In fact it is a little freaky to think on.
You see, that is a small part of the fear or
anxiety, if you will, of the crew. They know and accept who and what they are,
that is what makes them alien. Post. - Amorella
Oh
man, Amorella. You are being pretty harsh here.
Tough love is what you call it presently.
Facts are facts. You can better see the courage it is taking these three to
come to Earth and make themselves known. They do have the hope, however, that
Earthlings will come to see their motivations are out of a possible friendship.
Most earthlings (for very good reasons) wouldn't believe that in a minute.
As
I find my mind morphing into Yermey's character I see Homo sapiens rather
embarrassingly.
Yermey doesn't think about that. He doesn't
have the inclination because this was personally resolved before he volunteered
to be a part of this personal project. He has a job to do as do the others.
They have this present objective and a goal to resolve first. - Amorella
Mid-afternoon.
You are at the far north end of Pine Hill Lakes Park with the wooded hill
straight ahead. Carol has reading material, Patricia Cornwell's Red Mist,
but is doing a short walk first. You just arrived after a late lunch at First
Watch over near the Streets of Westchester. Carol had pulled pork and a salad
while you chose the breakfast, 'Parma': potatoes, cheese, tomatoes, onions
mixed with two eggs over lightly on top and a toasted muffin.
1446
hours. It is partly cloudy but mostly sunny, a very pleasant day. The new
April-air humidifier works fine, all automatic except for changing the pad once
a year. I don't even have to turn off the intake water in the summer. I saw an
online photo op of the new Telsa - Model S: the 2013 Car of the Year for Automobile.
Nice, and it gives me a sense of direction of sedan style for the next few
years. It appears very cool and classy both inside and out.
Class and style is what you want to see in
Yermey's plan also. - Amorella
I
have a problem since he is supposed to be (have been) one of the brightest men
on ThreePlanets. He is close to 500 years old and he was the first to learn how
to defeat the "Don't Like It Here, Then Leave" (suicide) pill system
that had been in use successfully for over several thousand years. At sixteen everyone
gets two pills set only for their individual biological systems, one pill makes
you terribly and painfully sick for up to six months and the other kills you
quickly and painlessly. By all accounts they are physically the same. Take them
both and terribly sick you will be. The point is that 'friends look out for
friends' and no one wants to be in such a predicament that sheorhe would
consider taking the pills. Very few were ever actually taken successfully and
about the same amount of people took the wrong one and became sick. There is no
evidence that anyone ever tried suicide the second time because when sheorhe
awoke two pills were waiting.
The universe is a tough place boy. Every
culture deals with this problem one way or another. Those that took the pill
and died are treated with respect, the thinking goes that the person just
couldn't handle the world and chose to leave before sheorhe did something
terrible like take the life of another first. Soldiers used to sacrifice for
their culture; this was treated the same way. They didn't have to leave, there
are always other ports of call in these modern days, but some just don't fit in
and don't want to; individual rights we call it.
Who
is the 'we'?
A 'Slider'. You picked up on one of the
Dead. This is what you do in the books and blog boy. - Amorella
You
are being spooky, Amorella.
Just as well boy, because Yermey's plan is
fairly spooky too. - Amorella
I
don't remember any 'Slider's' in the books.
Consistency is what you wanted and that is what
you get in blog and book. The second rebellion is over.
HeavenOrHellBothOrNeither is comfortable with the Dead of both species. This is
the first time one of their Dead chose to speak out. This does make sense in
context does it not? - Amorella
I
guess; in context. Still it is rather disconcerting.
That's the trouble with real imagination; it
can be disconcerting. You're an example of it. - Amorella
I
get the gallows humor. At least I am not a prime example.
No. Prime examples are secretive and bury
their thoughts like they would bury the Dead if they had the chance. - Amorella
I'm
going to close down now. Need a break.
No doubt. Later, Dude. - Amorella
1630
hours. A treat at Graeter's! Our first Graeter's since we had one with Craig
and Alta - two weeks - that's a long time, particularly for Carol.
You fell asleep in the chair while Jadah the
Cat laid on your lap; it is almost supper/news time. Carol just had you looking
up and pricing toasters and radio alarm clocks. Perhaps we can work later.
Post. - Amorella
You
are right; when I am out of the 'zone' I can't even write for the blog let
alone the book.
Are
you referring to the 'twilight zone' boy? - Amorella
Title this section 'spooked by a slider' for the fun of it. - Amorella
I'm not really spooked, I was just misspeaking, but it is funny. I still have my humor.
