Notes - theatre and plain thoughts

Late morning. You have an aching lower back for which you took a pain pill and a hot bath. I'll come in later when your 'self' is more suitable to reception. - Amorella

         1053 hours. I understand, Amorella.

Late afternoon and you are at the Outlets Mall between Columbus and Cincinnati on I-71. You just took the time to write a quick 'review' of Michael's play on Facebook. Here it is because you and he think alike in many ways. - Amorella

Carol and I just saw a very well performed one man play in Columbus today. "Mercy Killers" is the title and it was written and performed by Broadway actor Michael Milligan who some of you may know is the son of Fritz and Carol. One of the interesting observations was that after the play, we went up to say hello to Michael and to tell him how much we enjoyed his work on a very topical subject - health care. When I shook hands I suddenly realized that this man was not the auto mechanic his character depicted. (He fooled me on a very subconscious level.) Wonderful acting if you ask me. If at all interested check it out online.

1646 hours. It was good to see Fritz and Carol and Michael this afternoon.

2132 hours. We had Papa John's pizza for supper, our usual recipe. We watched the news, Thursday night's "Elementary" and "This Old House": We also made reservations for a hotel on our April trip from Texas to Arizona. It has been a fun day. It has been so long since Carol and I have seen a live one-person stage production. It was the summer of 1968 when the Ford Theatre first opened for performances after 100 years. The one-woman play was titled, "Eleanor" but neither of us can remember who the actress was. -- I have spent the last half hour online trying to find the actress' name. Perhaps I have the year wrong but I do not believe so.

You can picture the woman, rather plain looking and plain spoken. It was very exciting to sit in the Ford Theatre in regular folding cushioned chairs much as the ones you sat on today. Carol was working the tickets and Fritz sat with you both during the performance. Clearly he was enjoying himself. Carol came out to introduce the show and there were parts where Michael sounded a bit like the Stage Manager in "Our Town". You liked that very much; you also enjoyed the music before the production, ballads by Woody Guthrie. The show began with "This Land Is Your Land". Fritz has said several times that you and Michael think alike, that is you have a commonality of ideas and concepts, and it is true. - Amorella

Post this and send a copy of today's blog to Michael before bed, boy. You had a good day. - Amorella
