Notes - on the trip / a striking thing to say / the Guadalupe and dinner

Late morning. You had a good discussion on lots of current topics from nine to eleven or so this morning. Yesterday you went to Zilker Park Botanical Gardens in Austin and had lunch about two miles away at the original Whole Foods Store also in Austin, supposedly one of the largest such stores in the United State. Of all the choices (far too many for a novice such as myself), Carol and I settled on pizza. A few miles further and we were at the University of Texas and the LBJ Presidential Library, which was a wonderful place. - Amorella

Monday: Supper at the McAdoo's Seafood Company

The best quote on the wall at the LBJ Library is:

** **

IF ONE MORNING I WALKED ON TOP OF THE WATER
ACROSS THE PATOMAC RIVER, THE HEADLINE
THAT AFTERNOON WOULD READ: "PRESIDENT CAN'T SWIM."

** **

There is not an American president who would not related to this only in these time the Republican FOX News would no doubt report "Obama Can't Swim".

The Archives

The library is full lined with anterooms of wonderful photographs of the history of times from Truman through Obama with the legacy on Civil Rights. Also, there is a section on the Vietnam War and several small theatre areas to watch short films on LBJ or the Johnson family.

Tears formed but did not drop, boy. There were more personal dynamics than you are honestly reporting.  - Amorella

1148 hours. LBJ was for equal education for everyone. What was close to LBJ's heart: equal education and equal civil rights is also close to my own heart, it was then and still is.

Today you are all relaxing in the house. Drop in a photo of where you had the morning discussions. - Amorella

Morning Discussion Setting

Everyone has broken into small groups for more casual discussion and/or chitchat which is almost always punctuated by spontaneous and genuine laughter. Post, orndorff. - Amorella

The photo snapshots are taken with my iPhone-4 not Carol's Sony camera, thus they are not as clear. More laughter coming from the ladies in the kitchen. What a wonderful sound human laughter is.

Genuine human laughter clears the Voices of Angels in these books, boy. - Amorella

What a striking thing to say, Amorella. I am continually surprised.  - rho

You drove around parts of Canyon Lake and the scenic River Road along the Guadalupe River then had an early supper at the Gristmill River Restaurant and Bar. After supper you visited the Gruene (pronounced Green) General Store which has a soda fountain, homemade foods like fudge, jams and peanut butters and very unusual and 'fun' gifts. - Amorella

1937 hours. The photo below is similar to the sights we saw along the river. There was no place to stop and take a photo because all the land was marked either "Private" or "No Trespassing". This is 'free enterprise' in Texas. In Ohio the scenic river would have city or state recreational parks open to all.

Time to put this away for the night, orndorff. Post. - Amorella
