Mid-morning. You awoke with a dream.
You found yourself a pool about ten foot wide and fifteen foot long and a depth
of about twelve feet. The location was at the corner of State and Main Streets
in Westerville. Swimming west underwater about six feet under you turned to
swim east; in the water underneath you caught a glimpse of a fish with scales
an inch or two wide; the fish is about three feet long and a foot and a half in
diameter. Below it followed you as a predator might but you didn't think the
fish dangerous, as it was not shark-like in appearance. Did I leave anything
out? - Amorella
1037 hours. No, but I had fall season
styled clothes on and a light jacket when I found myself in the pool. I had
been walking the west side of State Street from College looking at the shops. I
don't remember any traffic and it appeared after midnight. These words are not
exact but it was akin to this scene. I voluntarily walked into the pool or sat
on the side and dropped myself in. I saw nothing in the pool until when
swimming in an upward turn back east (towards State Street) I caught a shadowy
glimpse of the fish with large scales. I immediately and intuitively thought of
the fish as representing a soul, I assume my own. It had large fish-like eyes;
then I had an intuitive flash of a person exhaling a bubble of quick-frozen
air. I assumed there was a connection between the frozen air and the soul, it
was almost as if the fish survived in the frozen air, it somehow swam in this
solidification of exhale. These two events occurred in what seemed like a few
seconds real time at most and I awoke abruptly, but waited until now, after
reading the Sunday paper and breakfast before writing it down. (1050)
1054 hours.
Immediately after posting I remember that one of my initial thoughts after this
point in the dream was the time I was using the simple board of 'yes', 'no' and
'undecided' and string with the washer attached and I felt a tug on the washer
which was hanging in the air above the board with my thumb and forefinger on
the string above the washer. There were several tugs as if the washer was a
bobber and a fish was nibbling at the bait below. I remember it frightened me
at the time because this was new unknown territory (in my experiment) to me and
all I could think on was angels and demons and I really didn't want to mess
with either, if they existed at all. This had to be in 1988 or 1989. It
happened again several times of the course of the time I was using the board
and string and washer until I got to the point a couple of years later that all
I needed was my right hand, a pencil and paper to write on. I had taught myself
automatic writing. It is all in my notes in a box of spiral held notebooks in
the basement. Dates and times included -- it was still an experiment, it still
is.
Anything else? - Amorella
No, other than somehow I recognize
such a 'fish' as a representation of the soul not an angel or demon. In those
days as now my agnostic self rose to doubt. The doubts allowed me the courage
to continue in my mostly imaginary and creative adventure. I think I want to
(in my mind) make the heartansoulanmind a reality (even though imaginary) to
give it a representation of shape/form/dimension. I need to see something to give me more
understanding that I can use in these stories.
Post. - Amorella
Mid-afternoon. You were pruning honeysuckles
after lunch then a neighbor started his mower so you decided to mow also. You
are glad you took a pain pill this morning. Very warm and muggy but with major
help from Carol you finished. The sun came out from those supposedly thick
clouds and now it is muggy and very warm to hot. You are both happy the chore
is done, at least for a few days. - Amorella
Late afternoon. You treated yourselves to a
kid's cup of mint chocolate chip and the humidity appears to have left so you
are at the far north end of Pine Hill Lakes facing the west hill once again.
Carol is still working on the Presidents book by Gibbs, page 226. This is not
to be read as a mystery book so it is at her leisure. Next Friday Carol's
sister Linda and niece Jean are coming up for a week, specifically for the Cook
reunion in Westerville on Saturday. It is Mary Lou's year to host. Carol
expects about 18 of the clan will show; you have no idea. - Amorella
1753 hours. Does the dream I had this
morning fit into Great Merlyn's Ghost in any way?
In a sense it does. We can use the
attributes of the soul as being 'fish-like' in its nature. - How does this fit
in with the soul as a protective armor, as it were, for the heartanmind, which
are not by nature immortal (in the book)?
From the soul's perspective everything
is as water; it might appear that air would be better but water gives the
universe and everything within it as well as everything beyond it is as water.
Shapes and forms we can designate as colors; for instance species that souls
are attracted to, that is, physical beings that may have a soul attachment to
heartanmind, are sky blue. The soul does not care what form or size the species
develops into; it is the color that is important. The soul then, as it were
nibbles on it until it is as eaten. A heartanmind must be 'eaten' for the soul
to mature. That is the way it will be in the books. The heartanmind is then
assimilated rather than digested. I can see this appears somewhat crude to you;
not nearly as esoteric as you would like. Think of the comfort and pleasure
good food and company is to human beings. The soul also recognizes a degree of
this. The heartanmind then becomes as a parasite within the soul, as it were.
Think of the origin of the mitochondrial DNA as such a parasite.

Origin
Nuclear and mitochondrial DNA are thought to be
of separate evolutionary origin, with the mtDNA being derived from the circular
genomes of the bacteria that were engulfed by the early ancestors of today's
eukaryotic cells. This theory is called the endosymbiotic theory. Each
mitochondrion is estimated to contain 2-10 mtDNA copies. In the cells of extant
organisms, the vast majority of the proteins present in the mitochondria
(numbering approximately 1500 different types in mammals) are coded for by
nuclear DNA, but the genes for some of them, if not most, are thought to have
originally been of bacterial origin, having since been transferred to the
eukaryotic nucleus during evolution.

2040 hours. I don't know if you are
correct for setting up such an analogy. I do not know these things, Amorella.
Your idea is certainly interesting. If it works (logically as an analogy) I'm
all for it.
You have more references in your head than
you think, boy. It is up to me to dig the usable out. Post. - Amorella
This makes us out to be less than we
think we are, than the writer of Shakespeare thought we, as a species, are.
