2300
hours. I was a junior at Otterbein University and in the early afternoon fifty
years ago today I was working part time at Norris’ Shoe Store in Uptown
Westerville. The other clerk and I followed the news on the local CBS radio station
WBNS. Quiet Disbelief were the watchwords in my mind for the next four days.
Today I am older and this afternoon I bought
an iPad Mini with Retina Display. I have yet to open the box.
Carol and I visited the JFK gravesite
on more than one occasion. Since that earlier date I have had a bit of
hollowness within my heartansoulanmind. A small piece of me left in the back of
Norris’ store as I listened to the radio that day.
This
afternoon I quite methodically bought an iPad Mini with Retina Display at the
Kenwood Apple Store. I have yet to feel inclined to open the box.
Fifty
years to the day. Who would have thought?
