13. Saturday – we left mid-morning – lunch at Wendy’s off
I-71 near Mansfield – Rock and Roll Museum – dinner at Pizza Hut – we spent the
night at ??
14. Sunday – breakfast at McD’s on I-90 turnpike – afternoon
into Canada – arrived by 3 pm – Jim and Jeanne had already arrived and we sat
on deck until house cleaners completed their task from the previous week’s
renters. We had a very good Italian supper at Johnny Rocco’s on Lundy’s Lane.
15. Monday - mid-morning –Niagara on the Lake then back to
view the American and Canadian Niagara Falls and other sundry related spots
such as the whirlpool; – lunch at
Wendy’s – supper at Jimmy Buffett’s.
16. Tuesday – mid-morning – we took two cars to Toronto – we had lunch at Cocoberry Cafe at 49 Harbor Square then walked on to the harbor boat tour pier and took a boat ride before returning to Niagara Falls for dinner at the Mandarin – very good food but none of us finished our plates as we had had too much to eat at the small cafe in Toronto. That night I began a cough.

17. Wednesday – mid-morning to the Welland Canal Parkway
where we watched two ships move through the locks; one going north to Lake Ontario
first, then the other moving south towards Lake Erie – lowering the lock to go
north and raising the water to head south. We then return to Niagara on the Lake for a pleasant time.
We had trouble finding a place to park when Craig said to turn off the main
street where there was an excellent spot waiting for us on Regent Street in
front of The Olde Angel Inn where each of us had an excellent English supper.
The whole week appeared quite serendipitous. Everyone was in good spirits and
we were entirely enjoyable in our companionship of four couples. Lots of
conversations and private opinions were expressed and evenly tolerated – very
relaxing. The coughing continued to the point that Carol and I discussed leaving
early.
18. Thursday – after a mid-morning breakfast Craig and Alta
were on board for the early departure and we packed and headed the short
distance of ten miles or so to the border. We stopped within an hour for a
snack at McDonalds then once in Cleveland we stopped at On The Rise for cookies
and had a late lunch at Stone Oven. We arrived home at five-twenty and once
unpacked and settled ordered two pizzas (Craig’s idea) from Papa John’s. I
coughed most of the night.
19. Friday – when we awoke at seven we discovered a thank
you and get-well note; they had quietly left for Chicago about six. I got a
late morning doctor’s appointment and was out of there by noon. Diagnosis:
acute Bronchitis. I am taking a Z-pack drug for my betterment. We ran some errands,
had left over pizza for lunch then we sat around watching some DVRed television
shows ending with half of the first episode of PBS’s “The Roosevelt’s”. We had
a good fun week with old friends. I’ll be better tomorrow or the next day I
assume – once I rid myself of this hacking cough.
Tonight Kim called to see how you are doing
and said she and the boys will see you next Saturday through Tuesday while Paul
is at a cardiothoracic anesthesiologists’ conference in Arizona. You are happy
everyone enjoyed the week together in Ontario. Tomorrow should be more routine.
Later, dude. Post. – Amorella
2305
hours. It did seem to be a serendipitous week even though Jim and Jeanne had
done the planning.
Why is that, orndorff? – Amorella
