When you first awoke you were thinking on
how you thought understood Nancy Ziegler’s lecture in AP Calculus that your AP
British Literature students talked you into attending. – Amorella
0859 hours. Her lecture seemed
reasonable. First she filled one sideboard; then she continued, proceeding to
fill the front (white) board with many more mathematical notations. When class
was dismissed Nancy asked, “Did you understand?” I said I thought I did and
told her what I thought. She laughed good-naturedly and said I wasn’t even
close. So, after last night’s thoughts that I felt I could handle the logic of
the Chinese Room; I realized that I probably don’t have a clue once again.
I
remember one of John Coulter’s English classes at Otterbein and how I was
taking two or three of his classes during one semester and I was in Romantic
lit but applied the essay question to Neo-Classic lit instead. Later, he called
me in and we had a laugh about it. He said, “Orndorff, this should be a F but I
gave you a B because you were so damn logical.” I love John Coulter. I must
have had thirty semester hours or more of his classes during my many year
tenure. He was a very intelligent, kind and compassionate man, the best kind of
teacher in my estimation. Such remembrances remind me I know little to nothing
about how this world is. I don’t have the brains.
You
have a twisted sort of passion for learning from experience though boy, as you
stumble in and out of the doors life has to offer. – Amorella
0916 hours. I drifted back to sleep
and the next thought awoke me with a smile. Two old men sitting on a bench or
at a table talking – “a hole in one” is the comment that woke me up because of
its sexual connotation and then “form and function” was the reply – I laughed
at the thought. Two old geezers trying to tackle Philosophy Unlimited (in this
case The Chinese Room) but end up making a joke about its seriousness. It seems
like a good tone to use in Dead 4.
Later afternoon. Once Carol returned
from getting her hair done you ran errands and had an excellent lunch at
Longhorn with Jen as your server. Carol is working on the wash and you are both
thinking about heading to Westerville tomorrow to have lunch with Steve and
Karen at Uptown’s Rusty Bucket. By the by, you need to relax a while before
tackling Dead 4. Later. – Amorella
2130 hours. I have the first 104 words
and am feeling much better about this. I like the idea of meeting at The
Mikroikia where the first Rebellion began. The old server, Aranos, is still
present. What a great idea. Socrates and Merlyn are sipping wine where it all
began.
Relax. You had a nap but no supper. Post. –

2135 hours. Meeting in Old Town – I
have it mapped out somewhere.
You have it recorded, boy.
2205 hours. I found long chapters one
through five plus chapter seven of “The Rebellion”. I am sure chapter six is
around someplace.
2217
hours. I found the whole of chapter six in sections in the blog (of all
places). So, I have the completed chapters – lots of material, some of which
might be useful. This is most awesome.
You have written much of the years, orndorff. Some will
be useful in "The Dead" segments of these last two books. Post. - Amorella
