Notes - a trip planned / library card / apple pie

Late Sunday morning. You are sitting at the breakfast table looking west. Carol and Kim are cutting and pealing apples to bake in a pie. Owen and Paul are sitting in the living room working on a project, Brennan looking for his Mac, i.e. “Cars”, truck. This is after breakfast and opening presents from you and Carol as well as exchanging with Kim and Paul.

On Friday, Craig and Alta arrived from visiting friends in Columbus. Everyone elected to go to Longhorn and enjoyed the tasty cuisine from the lunch menu. During the afternoon chats at home Craig hit upon a road trip to Seattle and Vancouver, but you four eventually narrowed it down to Yellowstone, the Grand Teton and Colorado. For example they may drive up to Denver, leave their car at the airport car park and take your car for the adventures. Then eventually head home your separate ways sometime in early June while it is still late Spring in the mountains. Carol had a salad, meatloaf, veggies, and bake potatoes for supper – dessert at Graeter’s later. There was a lot of good and fun conversation during the day and evening, capping it off with the latest “Elementary” (a favorite). After breakfast they left for Craig’s sister’s (Kim) horse farm near Springfield. Today they were to leave Ohio for Chicago and Eric, Mary Kay, Jack and Matt. At least it is sunny for a change and they have the sun to their back on the drive. Later, dude. – Amorella

1111 hours. Arriving last night we met everyone at Max and Erma’s for supper. Owen was really pumped. They had been downtown to the main branch of the Columbus Public Library, one of my favorite places once I had my driver’s license and car.  Owen proudly showed me his new (his own) library card. He even signed his name on the back of the card himself. I think I was even more excited than he was. I remember getting my first library card. There was nothing else like it. As a kid one the best things in the world was the adventure to the local library. Although I had been to the OSU library several times I never visited the Columbus Main until I was in high school and Brennan and Owen are two and four. How cool is that – four years old with your first library card!
