Notes - morning / a silly question /

Sunday morning. You had breakfast, a piece of chocolate, a glass of two percent milk (left over from the boys’ visit), a banana with a bit of Kroger crunchy peanut butter smeared on its side. Carol is still reading the paper and eating cold cereal and fruit for breakfast. – Amorella

0814 hours. I am ready for a nap after checking email.

You had a short nap – mostly arthritic aching around the knee, hip and ankle joints. – Amorella

1050 hours. The elbows ache too though I don’t know why other than exercises.  This morning I worked on trimming the front and northwest by north sides – that’s all I can do until the other battery recharges for the southwest side. I should trim the driveway too before we go south on Thursday. Luckily the Kings are home and will be at the house at least once a day, water the flowers and take care of the lawn.

You also sprayed the deck sides and corners and such as well as around the sliding door for insects. You sprayed the garage and front porch areas a day or two ago. – Amorella

1101 hours. I will work on the front yard mulching today too late this afternoon too, after the shade arrives. Once that’s done we are pretty much ready to leave the yard for a few weeks.

Ben, Lauran and Katelyn, Tim and Amy’s children are home from time to time also, Lauran and Katelyn come over to visit the cats (along with Amy) and Ben sometimes takes their canoe for recreation and fishing. It is stored under your deck. The Kings are coming and going all the time. Next door north, Jared stops by a few times a week to see his mother. He and his son also work in her yard. You can’t see the Pugh’s straight behind you this time of year but they have a new deck and four grown kids and several grandchildren over most any time. – Amorella

1114 hours. Sometimes we tell the police we are away, sometimes not. Lately they have been by late evening on bicycle, something new this last year. We live in a good neighborhood – all these are reasons for staying in the area rather than moving. Even our electricity does not go out because the police and city hall are right across Mason-Montgomery Road and we are on their circuit. A couple of years ago half the town was out for two days (first time ever) but not this area. Tim’s brothers both brought over food to be stored and kept frozen during the ordeal. Now watch, all this good stuff and we’ll get a plane crash or a tornado and wipe the place out.

You are always the realist to the extreme, orndorff. – Amorella

1121 hours. I am always leery of living on this planet. Anything can happen, any time. Shoot, we could both be dead by morning.

         Not we, boy. – Amorella

1123 hours. I was thinking of Carol and myself. As far as I am concerned you are part of who I am.

In context, yes, I agree, otherwise I would ask for my name as author of your books. Post. - Amorella

1131 hours. It is hard to believe we were just having a conversation.

People talk to themselves all the time, boy, they just don't write it down. - Amorella

You had a late lunch at Smashburgers and wore sandals, shorts, shirt and your CIA cap. While there you noticed for the first time that a few people actually looked at it; that is they got up during their meal and checked it out as they went by. The more you thought about it the funnier it was so you decided it was okay to wear it once in a while for the humor. The humor is from the same humor you wore it at school on several occasions, to get people to think. You will do almost anything to get people to think and consider even in an offhand way. The beret does the same thing. ‘Why is the old fellow wearing a beret?’ You remember the last time you were in London you stepped out of the hotel rather early and some English teens (a car load of boys) shouted out “Hey, Frenchy!” as they drove by. You smiled without waving thinking, ‘I’m not French, but it is nice to look European enough rather than looking American.’ – Amorella

1458 hours. I always preferred to look casual European from early in my college days. I felt more comfortable doing so. I wore black sweatshirts right side or inside out and a tweed black, gray and brown sport coat during those years, at least when the weather was suitable. As I grew older some thought I taught at Otterbein. I liked that. And, as to the cap, yeah, why not. First, I don’t look CIA, I look old so the question if interested would be ‘was he in the CIA?’ or ‘if he were in the CIA why would he wear a cap advertising it?’ or ‘if he were he must have had a desk job, I wonder what he did?’ Anyway, I need not take myself to seriously. I don’t think I ever did except for writing. Even teaching I was easy going and not fully serious most of the time. Some wondered about that too, ‘why doesn’t he act like a normal English teacher?’ Life can be fun, so why not?

An admission to your truer self – ‘Have fun being myself.’ You are this way even without thinking about it, boy. Anybody who believed he might have a real Angel on his shoulder would not be acting as you are. You would ask the questions whether I was here or not. You have always asked questions. If there is anybody you would really like to talk to it would be, as you say, the Creator of Questions not an Angel. – Post. – Amorella

1512 hours. That’s funny, Amorella. If I met the Creator of Questions I can’t think I would come up with a question to ask other than “Hello, how are you?” A silly question but I would want to be polite, what else would one say?
