Notes - old Saigon address /

Mid-morning. The fog has lifted. – Amorella

0926 hours. I would rather than be figuratively rather than literally, even though I enjoy the sunlight.

You have the upstairs to clean and the bathroom and kitchen floors to do as well as your exercises. – Amorella

0929 hours. Fortunately, I have a nap to take first.

1157 hours. I had my nap, did my forty minutes of exercises and cleaned upstairs and dusted the bedroom and bathroom. I needed that nap. Carol continues to go through files and sort out old papers and the like. Personally I’d throw out everything more than a year old but that is not her way.

Afternoon. You had ham and cheese sandwiches in the shade on the deck. Carol wants an electric small limb trimmer with a long pole like the professionals use. Carol also wants to buy some chair pads for comforting sitting. – Amorella

1314 hours. I’ll need to check online for the trimmers. When she goes to walk I’ll go looking for chair pads.

Carol decided not to walk, instead she found more material in the basement about her school days in Korea and Vietnam. She also found her old home address: 12 Doan Cong Buu, Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City. You have been trying to find it on an old Saigon city map online but cannot. The street was off Cong Ly (Le). Her dad was with USAID at the American Embassy. This was in the mid to late 1960’s. Searching for a house which may still exist but the street names are probably changed, at least according to Carol. Here is a painting of the house. - Amorella

1627 hours. At least she found the old address. Mary Lou has the painting so I took the picture of it. Carol’s bedroom was upstairs at the two windows on the far right. The cooking was done mostly in a kitchen house behind the house. Plenty of room for guests downstairs.

  1. I have old and current pictures of the villa at 12 Doan Cong Buu, it's still well maintained because it's now a guest house reserved to high-ranking Vietnamese Communist Party members.
