Notes - Carol's progress and modern science

Evening. You had a good lunch with Rich G. and Bud C., your two still working software engineering friends at Dickey’s, a new Texas BBQ on Mason-Montgomery Road catty-cornered from Graeter’s. Afterwards you dropped over to Graeter’s for an ice cream with Kim, Carol and Linda who had eaten at Olive Garden. Carol did will with physical therapy today and is ahead of schedule. She should be free of her cane on Monday of next week. You are well amazed she has been doing so well. Already she is walking better than you do. – Amorella

2154 hours. After next week the therapist thinks she will only have to go to the Mason Community Center only twice a week. No more medicine after tonight and only pain pills if she needs them. I asked her this afternoon after her activities how her pain level was and Carol replied, “Two.” I have a pain level of three to four almost every morning when I get up. Carol’s exercises are getting more complex but they are not giving her any problem. When Carol was walking down the street with the lady therapist this afternoon her gait was the same as it was when she walked before the surgery and she was steadier all the while. Lying down, she can easily raise her whole leg up ninety degrees and put it down slowly or up slowly or faster on a whim. She can bend her knee more than 90 degrees to 115 degrees. Carol does have a way to go in that the doctor prefers she get to 120 degrees by the end of next week. Mary Lou is coming down early tomorrow, taking Linda to Westerville and Saturday morning Linda catches the plane to Tampa.

You had a busy day and are obviously still very proud of Carol’s progress and Linda’s constant participation in it as well as all the medical professionals along the way. Normalcy is returning and August should be better for Carol than May and June were, that is your hope.

2214 hours. I love modern science and technology and how the human spirit can take advantage of this to survive better and longer. I loved the photos from Pluto the last couple of days. What a time to be alive. I am fortunate to have lived long enough to witness these positive aspects of Homo sapiens civilizations.
