Notes - orndorff cousins and grandkids /

9 October 2015

Once you arrived Kim drove Carol and you to Powell for dinner; Paul drove by himself because he is on call tonight. At home Kim served everyone home made apple pie with ice cream if requested. The boys are getting their baths but will have time before bed. You are more tired than usual and are ready for bed. A change of plans; Kim and Paul are leaving for Buffalo, New York tomorrow after an early supper this way they will have more time. – Amorella

2006 hours. Owen and Brennan are really growing up. Eating out with the boys is much more pleasurable than even six months ago. Owen has a soccer game Saturday morning but his regular babysitter is going to take him and stay and watch the game and bring him home while we watch Brennan. While at the restaurant a waiter came over and said he overheard that one of the boys is named Brennan. He said that was his name too. Kim said her Brennan is named for a bar/restaurant in Cleveland Heights (Brennan’s Colony) and the young waiter said he was named for Brennan’s Restaurant in Defiance, Ohio. This was quite a funny coincidence. I’m going in to bed.

Yesterday you had a wonderful lunch with Dave and Marsha at The Black Dog Tavern at the Deer Ridge Golf Course off I-71 at Exit 165 – good conversation for three and a half hours. - Amorella

David said a few words too. He told the waitress which hamburger he wanted in one soft-spoken word. He is better. He picked up his glass of beer with both hands and took it to his mouth, drank a few sips and put it back on the table. This along with the twinkle in his eyes every so often and lingering holding my hand while he was in the car to leave showed me a lot. His hand was cold and I held it longer. I always tell him “I love you,” when we leave. He was a great athlete in his younger days. He is my favorite male cousin on the Orndorff side, his my only male cousin on the Orndorff side.

The boys are upstairs readying for bed with Grandma’s assistance. Kim and Paul surprised everyone by ordering pizza for supper – all paid for, including the tip. The wedding is over and the party has begun. Kim and Paul made it to the Canadian Old Angel Inn at Niagara-on-the-Lake for lunch then drove to Rochester, N.Y. where the actual wedding took place and where they are staying tonight. Last night the Friday night movie was “Bolt” and tonight it was “Up”. Everyone had a good time with drinks and popcorn all the way round. Owen had a soccer game this afternoon and Brennan spent time at the playground at Orange Park of Rt. 23. You are surprised on how well the day went – only one five minute time out for the boys as their laughing fit went on way too long; five minutes of silence was the penalty. Post, boy. – Amorella

2102 hours. It is great being a Grandma and Grandpa to Owen and Brennan. And, Mom and Dad to Kim and Paul too!
