You put yourself in a slump, boy, because
you don’t feel you have any responsibilities. Basically, you don’t have any
other than working on your exercises, staying alive, being pleasant and taking
the time to listen to Carol, enjoying life, reading and writing, doing chores
and running errands when needed and being a chauffer whenever possible. Does
that sound about right? – Amorella
1310 hours. I guess. I don’t
think of them as responsibilities though – doing chores is one though.
You had lunch at Penn Station and are
presently at Kroger’s on Mason-Montgomery Road. Big night for a ball game –
Bengals v. Steelers; and tomorrow you are supposed to get your first snowfall
of the season, about an inch. – Amorella
1437 hours. I think of the
Bengals and Steelers rivalry (both river cities) like the Browns and Giants in
the 1950’s. May the better team win. Snow tomorrow and then again on Tuesday.
The birds are gathering around our place finally and eating away. They most
know the forecast. I do plan to have the folders done for the first ten
chapters of ‘The Dead’; ‘The Brothers’ and ‘Grandma’s Stories’. Then I can go
through each grouped selection as if they were publishable stories on their
own. Though, that would not work in context.
Merlyn’s dreams beginning to end would be
the same in any case, orndorff. – Amorella
1450 hours. Originally, the
context was one after the other.
Perhaps that is beyond the reach of an
average reader. – Amorella
1452 hours. The point was to
make the reader think.
Few buy the books. – Amorella
1453 hours. This would be a lot
of work and for what?
It is a lot of work anyway. You are free to
re-set the stories. I would like them completed one way or the other though
because you will feel better having accomplished what you set out to do – to be
a writer. – Amorella
1457 hours. You are right. The
work would not be much different than what I am doing now. – Amorella
It would not be any different into you
worked on the final draft of each segment (now novel) – four novels rather than
three, each could be read separately and those interested could analyze all
four of Merlyn’s dream to see if there is a fifth dream built in. – Amorella
1500 hours. I don’t think there
is a fifth dream built in; what would it be? Sounds too much like wishful
thinking to the likes of me.
You are home from a trip to Graeter’s after
the groceries were put away. – Amorella
1632 hours. I could have an
imaginary fifth dream by the Piper (to whom everyone has to pays); that would
be funny.
You are not taking any of this seriously. –
Amorella
1635 hours. I am mostly fiction,
as always, Amorella, that’s the truth of it. Believing is not a part of the
equation. I will not get into that. I talk to a pretend Angel – you. That is,
you are pretend by my standards. What is more important to me is that you have
been mostly consistent. Your writing worth to me is based on your consistency
in helping me write better. Maybe you are right, I can try to write the story
differently, that is come at the story differently but still essentially tell
the same story. The five books (Stuck, Braided Dreams, Running
Through, Merlyn’s Mind and Great Merlyn’s Ghost - One) I have publish all that are in Great Merlyn’s Ghost. Essentially, what I have to show for these efforts are fifteen years of published drafts.
1709 hours. I like the approach
to the stories as I have placed them in GMG. They are cleaned up and shortened
for clarity.
1810
hours. I have each chapter section in one of four consecutive documents.
Once you complete book two in this same way,
go back and do the same for your final copy for book one then tie the two
sections for each together into one document. In the meantime, also continue
with your original construction; keep it also. – Amorella
1814 hours. You continue to make
sense, Amorella. Nothing is lost in this, and perhaps further clarity and
continuity will be gained. I do not know how to make this work rawer and more
passionate.
You will remember how if and when that time
comes, boy. Post. - Amorella
2258 hours. It is a wet and cool night with snow by morning. The
Steelers are better. They deserve the win.
Time for bed. You had turkey soup for supper
and watched NBC News, “Blue Bloods”, “Elementary” and “Modern Family” before
turning on the Bengals-Steelers game, which is still playing. Post. – Amorella
