Notes - 16 and 17 June /

16 July 2017

Today has been wonderful summer weather-wise, but sometime mid-morning you lost your home phone service, fiber/cable and Internet services. Your cell phones work haphazardly, particularly the Internet.  Your received a call from Cincinnati Bell stating that a technician would not be out this evening, but tomorrow morning between eight and twelve because of a minor glitch in the system. Today is national ice cream day thus Carol wants a Graeter's later. She is busy throwing out old office-like files. You are postponing your last minute Kroger chore until later. - Amorella

1523 hours. I have to pick up over the counter meds I have been putting off -- vitamins D and B12 as well as glucosamine chondroitin for joint relief.

Carol gave you a couple of chores to do for trash day tomorrow and you botched one taking out the recycle container, in the process you hit a table umbrella which fell down and hit the right side of the front bumper on the Avalon which you will have to have repaired next week if possible. - Amorella

1602 hours. I hope I still have a fellow who is very good at such painting repairs. I'll call him tomorrow, probably set me back a couple hundred. I have had worse days. It ticks me off anyway; my fault, plus Carol asked me to take the other car out (I was too lazy to get the key).  Earlier, at Carol's request I did go pick-up a Papa John's take out for lunch -- excellent as always. I read on the newest Harper's during lunch -- always good stuff within.

       Post. - Amorella

1613 hours. Posting isn't happening presently. Not the normal 'home' setting in any case.

Dusk. You had diet potato chips and a Coke Zero for supper while finishing this July's Harpers. Carol has been reading her Grisham on the front porch until a few minutes ago. - Amorella

2055 hours. I enjoyed several articles/stories in the Harper's. I shall write down the titles and add them when I have the magazine at hand. The most reflective work was by a woman in the 1930's; the focus is on tyrants. It could have been written in the last month. I recognized her name upon seeing it, short term memory is not serving me well at the moment or ever mostly. How can one know these things without the reflective memory needed? Time to head for bed and continued quiet before though, here are the three excellent articles: "The Reichstag Fire Next Time" by Masha Gessen; "The Maze" by Emma Goldman (from the 1934 Harper Archive); and "Killing Bill O'Reilly" by Matthew Stevenson. "The Maze" is by far the best because of its modern relevancy.

You took time to complete Harper's. Why not use the time for personal reflection? - Amorella

2105 hours. I have nothing new to say on any subject.

Here's a concept. Let's say for the sake of thought that I, the Amorella, am immortal and that the human soul is also immortal. How is the soul thus different from a Betweener like myself in terms of its immortality?

2108 hours. I have to first define 'immortal'. I cannot use my favorite internet sources.

** **

immortal - adjective - living forever; never dying or decaying: our mortal bodies are inhabited by immortal souls.

** **

2113 hours. I have a problem with "living forever"; mostly with "living". I cannot imagine "immortal souls" as living. I see "living" as an existential-like moment mainly because the unconscious mind is seemingly always at work. I assume the unconscious mind makes decisions based on what it understands at its own level, and that some of these decisions may be life changing even though one's consciousness is not aware of it. The body's mechanism for surviving a noncancerous tumor, rerouting the blood system around such a tumor. I have seen this in the arm of a human cadaver at OSU back when my cousin David Short was in dental school. Later, he had only the head, the rest of the body was passed on to someone else I suppose. I assume I asked but I don't remember his response but I'm sure it was reasonable otherwise I would have remembered it. Personally, even on a hypothetical level, I don't consider you, the Amorella, a Betweener, as living. Immortality need not include having once lived physically in a physical universe as opposed to a metaphysical existence. (2130)

2130 hours. Back to your original question -- I do not see there is a difference in the immortality of a soul and the immortality of a Betweener, or for that matter, the immortality of an Angelic being. It appears to me from a human perspective that immortality might possess several levels of conscious-like awareness wrapped in an immortal sense -- which is ,for all practical purposes, immeasurable.

2140 hours. I have no idea Amorella. It is interesting to speculate though.

Why is it interesting to speculate on, boy? - Amorella

       2142 hours. It just is.

All for tonight. Post tomorrow when plausible. - Amorella

2144 hours. It might be that the Betweener was immortal first, that is, the Betweener was created immortal before a soul for a human was created. Now, that brings up as to whether a Betweener was created before an Angel or whether it was the other way around or whether it was simultaneous. One could go on but it is all hypothetical and serves no real practical purpose as such.

How can one know in advance whether any thought will serve a practical purpose? - Amorella

       2150 hours. One cannot know. (2150) - stop -

17 July 2017

Mid-morning. You are still waiting on the 'soon-to-arrive' call from the Cincinnati Bell technician. Carol is finishing the paper which has a full page editorial to 'Impeach Trump' by a local retired judge.

0915 hours. Who would have ever thought the mighty and conservative Cincinnati Enquirer would ever allow such a happening. It surprised me but not Carol so much, who said to me, 'the judge wrote an earlier such editorial back in February'. Obviously, I have not been paying close attention. Alas, "so it goes" (a tip of my old black beret to Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five).

You received an auto-bot call saying your tech appointment is confirmed between eleven and twelve. - Amorella

1205 hours. Mike replaced the main box attached outside the house and also restored/replaced settings inside and everything works. He said the old box was outdated. This took him about thirty minutes. We are pleased -- Mike is a very polite and knowledgeable fellow. We are off to lunch shortly.

       Post. - Amorella

Bedtime. You spent time attempting to put PBS on your Blu-ray machine. So far unsuccessfully. Trumpcare appears down for now. Your day was busy. Post. - Amorella
