You spent much of Wednesday and the day before at the M/I Design Center
near Easton Shopping Centre past Morse Road and off Seltzer Road. The main
focus was on the living area (fireplace stone), floor, kitchen (granite),
master bedroom, master bath, guest bath, study (barn doors entrance), hall
bath, and upstairs bath -- picking most of the major pieces for each area such
as cabinets, floors, tile, etc. You found this rather exhausting. However,
your major decisions are ready for another go-round next Wednesday and Thursday
when final choices have to be made. Carol, Linda and Kim did most of the
work while you checked out and helped with outside decisions on wood plank,
stone and slate pieces and colors also with the indoor stair hand railings
and the like. This took about three or four hours each day.
1504 hours. This was very
mind focusing and ultimately once over, tiring. This morning we drove to the
Enclave model at Sanctuary off Africa Road and spent another hour or so. (One
can only take in so much at a time.) Our final decision on structure was the
barn doors entrance to the study. I envision the interior as mostly eclectic
with a French country blend -- soft,
warm, with scattered striking surprises within the confines of a modernized
1930's and 40's Sear's like, craftsman house with a three post, goodly
proportioned front porch with a three step up from ground level. Anyway, it is
a fun and exciting project, the third time we have had a house built mostly to
our specs, recognizing M/I build over 3,000 homes a year. Our house is not a
complete 'custom build'.
You are upset with spending explanation on a project that has
nothing to do with writing itself, but it does have to do with a setting for
writing. - Amorella
1518 hours. This is true, but I want a chair with a
push up built in footstool for the guest bedroom, the study, the master
bedroom, the sun room and the upstairs level bedroom with full bath and walk in
closet. The upstairs bedroom will hold Kim's old twin beds and dresser/mirror
(also used by Carol and Mary Lou growing up) with room for the boys to play
games and three large windows facing east. I want a chair upstairs too. That
way I can write where it suits me. The basement is only for storage. Wow.
That's five chairs -- they don't have to be all those big bulky comfort chairs.
I know they make leaner ones.
Sounds like you are up for all this orndorff. - Amorella
1526 hours. Building keeps our minds busy and open
for new ideas -- helps keep a person young-thinking and passion-filled for the
use of innovative creative resources. Within, we are nowhere near dead yet. Besides, real estate is a good place to invest your money with caution, just like the banks and the financial
markets can be. When we are done with our new home Kim and Paul can make use of it however
they wish.
