Notes - an everyday day and friends

Mid-afternoon. You picked up lunch at Potbelly's and just finished it at the far north end of Pine Hill Lakes Park. You are facing south towards the woods about ten feet away on a curved diagonal. Carol left for a walk around the north park down to the lakes. Muddy Creek is fifteen to twenty feet down, and four feet from your car door. Autumn, so far, has brought dingy yellow leaves. The colors aren't helped by the cloudy weather. A few robins and downy woodpeckers are out and about. Here comes Carol up from fording the creek and climbing trail. - Amorella

1536 hours. Carol is reading the local paper, the Journal-News Pulse of Lebanon and Mason which you found on your driveway before heading to the bank and lunch. We will miss local areas like the far north end of the park. Traffic goes by behind us but otherwise we have the sunroof open and the branches of what appears to be a gingko tree with its wider fanned green leaves. About a mile to our south by southwest we can hear the battle of the bands. High schools from near and far are meeting at the Mason High School campus for competitions. Otherwise, it's quiet enough to listen to the birds singing and crickets and others in conversation. (1548)

This reminds you of 'Conversations with the Dead', now a title for side notes on such conversations over your lifetime. - Amorella

1550 hours. The [others in conversation] reminded me of the phrase, "conversations with the Dead" not a title for side notes.

I, the Amorella, was filling in your unconscious thinking of that moment.

1555 hours. Possibly, but if so, it was bent on humor with sarcasm attached. This does bring up a point though. In this particular circumstance I cannot discern a sense of time passing from a consciously formed thought and an unconsciously formed one noted by yourself. I don't know that we have a machinery that could discern conscious thought from unconscious thought. If science had such machinery it would be interesting to measure which is which and more importantly to me, which was first the conscious thought or the unconscious thought that  triggered the conscious one. It would be a slippery sloop from a case for having Free Will. --  Carol finished the paper. Time to go to the grocery. (1604)

You are sitting in front of Kroger's on Mason-Montgomery Road waiting for Carol. - Amorella

1620 hours. Wow. I didn't realize it takes about 15 minutes to get here from Pine Hill Lakes. Actually, that's not too bad. I thought there would be more traffic up by the school; however the surrounding campus lots appeared mostly full and two bands were warming up in the front junior high lot. I just saw someone who looks like my mother did about twenty-five or thirty years ago; caused an odd jolt in memory. Mom dyed her hair back then, it was a kind of orange-red, maybe strawberry and red. That's what caught my eye and her facial shape was similar to Mom's. Sharp angular features, very German or Prussian like -- probably because she looked like her father Henri Schick not her mother who was a [Mae] Freeman.

Varied genetics walk the Kroger lot. People from many parts of the world; quite different than forty or fifty years ago. - Amorella

1635 hours. The varied genetics appeared to me as a kid when we would go to the Ohio State University campus, and even some in Westerville at the Otterbein Campus. I don't ever remember being taught on how to receive people from other cultures except to be polite and as with every other adult, be polite and quiet except when asked to speak. Being quiet attached to being polite. That's how I remember it. When we had company at home the rules were the same as in public. Be quiet, reserved and keep your mouth shut. I don't know what they thought I might say, but I don't believe I was ever impolite when among adults. I remember the first time we had a German family over for dinner. The father had been a German scientist that dad helped relocated to Ohio State or Battelle - someplace like that; maybe even to North American Rockwell. Anyway, he and his family were nice and spoke  English different than we did. I think there were two kids also but they were younger than me and stayed around their mother after supper. (1647)

After the grocery you were carrying some things in from the car and slightly twisted your left hip which caused an immediate sharp pain. Earlier in the day Carol mentioned a health article in "Better Homes and Garden" on putting ice on sharp pains from the lower back. You followed through with the ice pack and sat in the chair in the family room and promptly fell asleep. Upon awakening forty some minutes later you found the pain had not gone away. You had left over turkey/vegetable soup and half a peanut butter sandwich with raisins. After watching NBC News on the DVR you watched an episode of "Blue Bloods". After filling your pill box for next week and taking your weekly 'pen' shot you are ready to call it a night. - Amorella

2134 hours. I don't know why you continually put down all this trivia? It's embarrassing.

If it were your last day of life it would be memorable enough. - Amorella

2136 hours. I don't appreciate the everyday in living, is that what you are implying?

Just a reminder, young man, that everyone's days are numbered, at least in human terms. - Amorella

2138 hours. Words don't appear to be coming from my fingertips.

You are silently appreciating the moment while thinking of your friends Bob Pringle and Dave Short who have left already. Post.  - Amorella
