Notes - off the high horse / no sarcasm

Noon, local time. You have slowly been putting the furniture back in the study, kitchen and family room all morning. You did thirty minutes of your exercises yesterday but very few with your legs. Lying down on your back you could not raise your right leg. You took  a pain pill which means you have very fewer left. It helped but it did not help you raise your right leg lying down. Carol just returned from the dentist and is working on home economics.  - Amorella

Later. You and Carol had lunch at Panera's on Mason-Montgomery Road then came home and each had an ice cream from the fridge's freezer. You have been checking your email to discover the most important news of the day was on the three physicists who won the most recent Nobel Prize. That, and the Cincinnati Enquires' headlines "PURE EVIL".  - Amorella

1629 hours. Indeed, Doug sent me the Times' article on the Nobel Prize award, but earlier I couldn't believe the newspaper had the headline; I don't care who said it. Pure evil doesn't make sense. How can something be 'pure' and 'evil' at the same time?

pure - adjective - not mixed or adulterated with any other substance or material: cars can run on pure alcohol |
the jacket was pure wool. without any extraneous and unnecessary elements:
the romantic notion of pure art devoid of social responsibility.
free of any contamination: the pure, clear waters of Montana.
wholesome and untainted by immorality, especially that of a sexual nature: our fondness for each other is pure and innocent.
(of a sound) perfectly in tune and with a clear tone.
(of an animal or plant) of unmixed origin or descent: the pure Charolais is white or light wheat in the coat.
(of a subject of study) dealing with abstract concepts and not practical application: a theoretical discipline such as pure physics.

noun - profound immorality, wickedness, and depravity, especially when regarded as a supernatural force:
the world is stalked by relentless evil | good and evil in eternal opposition.
a manifestation of this, especially in people's actions: the evil that took place last Thursday.
something that is harmful or undesirable: sexism, racism, and all other unpleasant social evils.

1643 hours. After reading the above for a clearer light, I can see I erred. One can legitimately write "Pure Evil", but to me the 'statement' appears false because: 1, evil is not free of any contamination; 2, evil is not wholesome and untainted by immorality; and 3, evil is not (in this context) an abstract concept but  is rather seen as an application related to a terribly recent newsworthy event showing (suggesting) a sense good and evil in eternal opposition.

It is rather humbling to be kicked off your high horse, is it not, Richard? - Amorella

1655 hours. I'm not too pleased about it but I had it coming. Originally and immediately upon reading "PURE EVIL" I was struck with "EVIL IS NOT FREE OF ANY CONTAMINATION" in all caps of course and my grammatical sword-of-purity-in-meaning was raised high and ready to denounce all comers. My shield, however, was arrogance; not so good for someone expecting immediate knighthood in the Higher Use of Language Realm.

You and Carol worked a bit on cleaning up the garage; tomorrow you hope to have one side ready to receive a car and both sides by Thursday. Friday you are going to a scheduled meeting with M/I Homes to officially order the material from the decorative services. After that you will have to pay to make changes in architecture and room designs. - Amorella

1936 hours we have been watching NBC and ABC News, presently however, Carol is talking to her sister Linda. Perhaps we will learn more about Sharon's nephew and how well he is recovering from surgery. Most of the news focus is still on the recovery from the concert. The world always moves on no matter what the calamity of the day or week. I feel a little better tonight right leg-wise, that is until I put some weight on it. I'll be ready to go to bed early and hope for a better day physically tomorrow. The living and dining rooms are still a mess but we are moving along putting things into a more permanent order of semi-staging the decor. The family room and study are looking much better.

You watched "The Good Doctor" and "NCIS" and enjoyed both. - Amorella

2214 hours. I liked "NCIS" because digging up the dead was part of the plot. One of the characters was 'spooked' in the setting, saying his mother or grandmother said never to mess with the Dead because they could come back to 'get you'. I remember worrying about that when I was a fraternity pledge I knew I would have to go to the  mausoleum at Otterbein Cemetery alone at night, say a pledge to Caesar after I got in and they locked the door after me. The fraternity had a real skeleton named Caesar. I don't know where they kept it. Anyway, I thought it might be disrespectful to those buried in the walls of the mausoleum and was a bit anxious about the spiritual repercussions. I was not afraid of ghosts, but in those days for me Angels and Fallen Angels were fair game. I was always concerned I would not know the difference in a real one on one situation. Reading selections of Milton's "Paradise Lost" in high school didn't help any either. I enjoyed the dialogue between the grave diggers in tonight's "NCIS". Been there, done that. Grave diggers do have a sense of humor in real life. Anyone who has ever really been 'spooked' knows the wherewithal of the jokes' tricky depths. One doesn't mess with the Dead if she or he has been a gravedigger. Respect is duly given. "The Good Doctor" is a refreshing show. As I watch I realize how much I am not autistic. I am imaginatively self-centered. When I was little people used to say I was 'special' because I survived after being born at very little over two pounds. I supposed I believed it after a while mostly because I accepted that people told the truth. I didn't know any better. Then I found I could make up my own stories that weren't the truth either and it was fun because early on I realized no one knows what the real truth is. This is still really funny to me; a real joke, almost like a gravedigger's joke.

The point here is that you are not being at all sarcastic. - Amorella

2238 hours. I hadn't even considered sarcasm while my fingers work the keys. Or, even now for that matter. There is no need of sarcasm when one has a realization about what is real and what is not.

You think you have a realization about what is real and what is not. - Amorella

       2243 hours. Who would know?

I would, boy. Post. - Amorella

2244 hours. That was an unexpected comment. It was not sarcastic either. Good night, Amorella.

       Good night, orndorff. - Amorella
