As with lunch with Rich G. on Friday, you had another excellent lunch
with Bud C. today. You enjoy seeing both old neighbors from the Majken Place
area of west Mason city limits out off Butler-Warren Country Road -- the
southeast corner of Butler-Warren and Tylersville Roads. You were close
neighbors in 1975 when you and Bud both built on the Majken Place col-de-sac.
One house, the Bells', was between you and Bud. Behind the Bell's home on the
next parallel east-west street was the home of Rich G. and his family. Rich's
daughter, Jessie was the same age as Kim, both born in 1979 and Bud's second
daughter, Amanda was born about
three years later. - Amorella
1610 hours. In the nineties we
three fathers took the girls to several concerts, one was "The Bangels"
at King's Island and another was "New Kids on the Block" at
Riverfront downtown. Beyond that we saw appropriate films together. Rich and I
took Jessie and her brothers and Kim on several of their sail boat outing in
eastern Indiana. We even raced Rich's lightning class boat in meets at the ???
lake on weekends. Lots of fun for Jessie and Kim. There was room for the four
kids and Rich and I to sleep below deck, which we also did a few times. Bud and
Rich were both in the heady hardware/software business at the time. I don't
know why they accepted me other than I taught "Futures Studies/Science
Fiction", "Mythology" and "Social Criticism" quarter
literature classes to combo juniors/senior classes. Actually, they had both had
British lit classes in high school and we talked about Beowulf, King
Arthur and Shakespeare from time to
time. I suppose I am a diversion from their workaday life. I love conversing
with engineer thinking computer savvy minds. In those days when I really
attempted to understand the logic and growth of those earlier gaming and
computer systems; plus we three all had Atari Game Systems and we also liked to
talk about cars. Come to think of it mythology and science fiction themes fit
right into the innovative electronic games of the time. Plus, we all read
science fiction and grew up loving rock, blues and country music. So, we did
and do have a lot of deeper guy cultural memories in common. I have never
really thought about this aspect of our guy/bro-like relationships before.
First, though it had to do with close proximity, electronic games and of course
our daughters' growing up. I had Kim and Amanda in class at Mason, by that time
Rich's family had moved into the Montgomery area of Cincinnati and Jessie
attended a nearby Catholic girls' school. (1642)
Memories were flowing through your fingertips without much and
sometimes no conscious thought. - Amorella
1643 hours. They were.
Interesting. Recollection without words typed themselves on the keyboard. Amazing.
As real as it gets coming out of my head.
That was mostly from heartansoulanmind, Richard. Those are the kind of
memories you take with you when you leave the physical world, at least in this
'encounters-in-mind' post and blog world at your fingertips. - Amorella
1648 hours. I like that. Here
comes Carol.
Nearly bedtime. Tomorrow morning you have your appointment with your
endocrinologist, Dr. B. in Anderson and Carol has a hair appointment at noon
after which she will register to renew her Ohio driver's license. - Amorella
2206 hours. I did finish
reading Wolff's Fire and Fury. Here is my last chapter/epilogue review.
Tomorrow I hope to write a shortened final review for both Facebook and this
blog then move on to other matters.

The final chapter, twenty-two, focuses on General Kelly and the West
Wing WH. Events at Charlottesville and the situation in North Korea are the
topics. This political dance concludes with Bannon out and the Epilogue titled
"Bannon and Trump". Whatever happens, according to Bannon is the
beginning of a new much reduced American government, the true beginning of the
swamp being drained in the District of Columbia. The beginning is and was
Trump. American politics will be forever changed. This is a better book, it
should be read by those interested in American politics. Beyond this though the
books describes human nature and how it can become for people who are thrust
into power without a concrete plan or goal on how to accomplish an agenda that
has not been completely thought out. Forget they are Republics here. These Wolff observations are on how human nature reacts when confronting the political reality during the first year of the Trump White House. Wolff
writes what he observed and researched -- how people act and how they interplay
in a similar existential situation. The people in this book are real people in a
real situation. The book appears nonfiction from my perspective. I have made my
own observations during the last year and so have you. People are what they are
and show their true colors along the way. We all do.
