Mid-morning. Small breakfast as you are going to lunch today. Clash of the Titans earned a C not so good but you are going anyway. The review said it was not as good as the original 1980 film, not as campy. And, being a god is not such a good thing in this movie, because people don’t trust the government, so why would anyone want to be in Washington or Olympus for that matter.
That is the gist of the review. Why would anyone want to be in Olympus? Sad and funny at the same time. Different thinking these days.
Yet similar to what’s coming up.
That’s not so good, Amorella. Being upstaged is not so good. Been there many times in the creative vein. Always a little too late. At least I got the first three books out. I don’t think there is anything else like them, but this book with the Greek pantheon and all has been done before, many times, I’m sure.
I wasn’t talking about the scene, orndorff. – Amorella.
I don’t know what to say to that comment.
I wasn’t expecting you to say anything.. Carol is going on a walk, you might as well go too. There will be time to work on the next scene or two later today. Post. Later, old man. – Amorella.
Returned from lunch. Rich and Lou’s son, John came along and you were happy to see him as it has been eleven years since you saw him at his mother’s (Louise’s) funeral. Tomorrow afternoon you and Rich are meeting at the Regal for the Clash of the Titans. Rich remarried. You two are good friends still. Shortly you are Carol are out for errand runs. All this, in many little ways trickles into your books.
I didn’t know that though it certainly is plausible. This brings back such a flood of memories of those times. Many emotional moments as well as adventures to be sure since 1979, the summer Jess and Kim were born. Now both are married and have one child each.
You are over at the park waiting on Carol to do her walk. Today is obviously not a walk day as far as you are concerned.
Beautiful day but I am rather sluggish. Spring fever I suppose. I think the cat had it this morning laying about at each window when the sun shines in. I doubt I’ll be at all productive, at least that is the way I am feeling at the moment.
After a Papa John pizza and catching up with last Monday’s ‘24’ and Castle I am ready to work on this next scene.
Let’s go to it. First, a description of Zeus’ home at Olympus.
(image from Roman Coliseum in 3-D by Google)
Scene 2
“Visualize the perfect form of a full size exterior model of the Roman Coliseum and multiply its size one thousand times and reduce the size of an average human being one thousand times smaller. Once you have the ratios in mind consider the model to be the home of Zeus on the fabled Olympus, and you the reader to be looking at it from a distance of one mile.”
Checking the dimensions online you find the height of the coliseum to be one hundred and eighty-seven feet, the length six hundred and fifteen feet, the width five hundred and ten feet. The ground level is thirty four feet high, the second level is thirty eight feet high, the third level is thirty seven feet high and the fourth level is forty five feet high. Let’s use the average human height at five foot, nine inches. A little high perhaps but more easily imagined when reduced one thousand times.
Well, poetic imagery or not, I cannot imagine either size in my head, let alone both together.
That is good enough then. All for tonight, orndorff.
