Notes - today so far /

0608 hours. I awoke early to see Kimberly safely off to Ohio State for her Career Assessment Conference, but I overheard snippets of Paul talking to Kim about an OR procedure, a double lung and heart transplant. I have never even considered such a possibility – to witness in a moment, a living human being having an empty chest cavity. I have trouble even visualizing the concept. A few years ago (2006) Bob and I came to the Cleveland Science Center to see Body Worlds 2 (human body plastinates). I have seen the open cavity; however, just the thought of a living body chest cavity is a bit overwhelming. I cannot imagine how doctors do the operations they do.

For your birthday Kim bought you a three-year subscription to Motor Trend to better help you in new car decision-making. That you can more easily imagine. Think of a car without its engine, think of a car without a fuel pump. Pop in a new engine and related items such as a new fuel pump, fill it with petrol and you are good to go for another hundred thousand miles.  – Amorella

1204 hours. Paul is downstairs studying and Carol is watching the news while waiting for Brennan (who had a good morning) to fall asleep. We are out for sandwiches at lunch and perhaps Bar Louie’s for a later supper when Kim arrives home from her conference.

The Colorado shooting has been the focus – at a movie theatre no less. You have this floating-in-mind but don’t know what to do about it. – Amorella

When I first heard about it I thought about how, in my imaginary three-planet system on the other side of the galaxy, it is consider more proper to commit suicide than to take another person with you. It is a part of our modern worldwide culture, that’s my opinion. Our cultures are alienating to some, for a variety of reasons these people cannot adapt enough to think of a way to die without taking others with them.

This is a rationalization, boy, but you can’t think of anything else. Post. - Amorella
