2200 hours. It has been a busy day. We are at Kim and Paul's. The
boys are asleep, Carol is reading in the bedroom and K and P are on the couch
watching a dance program on TV and I am sitting in my favorite chair (here)
with my feet propped up listening to CBS Radio - 'New Age' online so I am not
disrupted by the television.
You are really quite humbled, boy, by the
design for Kim and Paul's new house
(if they go through the contract). The design has a private bathroom and
an upgraded bedroom (actually, a guest room) off the first floor via a hallway.
They said it is for us whenever we want to use it and for us when we don't want
to live alone anymore. You joke around about it but deep down you think, "how
kind of you to think of us in such a demonstrative way". - Amorella
I like to joke about it, and they haven't signed to build
the house quite yet (but soon, as they will have one of two lots to build on in
their preferred subdivision). It will be their guest room after all. We do not
consider ourselves 'old aged' yet, but eventually --. We are blessed having
such a daughter and son-in-law that are willing to take us in when the time
comes. It is an added sense of security, an insurance of sorts, that family is
as important to them as it is to us.
You think, what if the world could be
constructed so that 'family' would mean Homo sapiens first. Not brothers or
sisters or cousins, just family, where everyone works for the family's common
good, for everyone's common good, beginning with health and education and
continual 'growth' for their lives. Security and health and lifelong education
and work as service to our fellows as well as to the planet as well as the moon
and Mars. To serve the young and the old and ourselves. Work is to cultivate
our own genetic garden amongst our home planet and perhaps one other and/or
moons and/or asteroid colonies.
In the Merlyn stories the secret of the
Holy Grail is found to be: "To serve the young and others so that you
might also be served and cared for when necessary and when in older age."
Those are not the exact words, but
that is the intent. "We serve our children so that they in turn will serve
us." This is the way your children think by their intent. This is why you
are so deeply struck by their words. You cannot formulate this feeling but it
rolls deep, sloshing, if you will, about the heartansoulanmind; that which you
hope you can take with you beyond physical death. Is this so, as I write it? -
Amorella
It is, and it leaves me feeling strangely naked.
