Notes - spiritual survival / Grandma 7 (final) completed /

Earlier Carol got you up and you both drove out of the development to look at the blood moon (which you have seen many times before) and you saw it almost on the western horizon as a quite faded spectacle. Alas, you were really too late as it was about a quarter after seven. Carol is eating breakfast with the paper; you have finished. – Amorella

0827 hours. It is a sunny morning for a change, supposedly the only one for the next several days. I really want to get Grandma 7 completed but another major reconstruction is certainly possible. There is too much information for these short segments plus I have my doubts that the reader is much interested in the genealogy though initially I wanted it to carry through the idea of a genetic family and friends unit to correspond to the parallel concept among the Dead – the difference being the human spirit takes the place of the genetics.

This parallel aspect can be touched upon in book three in the Dead segments – a leapfrog effect tie in with the continuing Grandma’s Stories. That will braid as it were The Dead, The Brothers and Grandma Stories leaving only Diplomatic Pouch as a dream tie in with Richard’s view of the Merlyn character. – Amorella

0843 hours. This is overly complicated in writing but these concepts easily flow through the mind.

That is because you have let everything go, boy. You focus on the banks while everything else has gone downstream, so to speak. This makes for a very stark storyline with strong existential roots broken away from the mainstream. However, this is not a story of those roots as much as it is a story of spiritual roots about the workings of the human spirit and its environmental nature as opposed to the usual physics. We work with what we have. Think of this Merlyn business as your spiritual business because in here it is. You are telling your fiction to an Angel who certainly can read through and beyond your maze of words. I say there are ‘angels’ out there who upon reading and understanding what the books say will learn a bit more about themselves and their own existentially spiritual circumstance to see a broader perspective of physics and metaphysics together. You are writing this for angelic-minded human beings, at least for human readers who demand to see a broader vision of what physics allows in itself. Later. Post. – Amorella

0856 hours. I am not sure I follow all this myself. I just want a good story. I am not too concerned about the message – it is the theme of human survival that is important to be told at least from my present perspective.

You are at Montgomery Family Medicine seeing Dr. Merling. You have another follow up routine appointment at Bethesda this afternoon. While you have the time let’s look over the two drafts of Grandma Seven you have and see if we can marry them. – Amorella

1205 hours. That sounds good to me.

You had quarter pounders and colas at a nearby McDonalds and are waiting for Carol at Bethesda. You also just completed the seven hundred and eighty word Grandma Seven. – Amorella

1423 hours. This version flows much better and should be easier to read and understand. Grandma does a good job of narration. Strange, legally I am aware I have to take the credit for the works but the ‘me’ I know is not doing the writing. Only when I dream I can write I can write decently though not what I would consider admirably. – rho

Who are selected examples of your best admirable American writers in your opinion? – Amorella

1430 hours. I was going to say Chaucer, Milton and the author of Shakespeare but you ask for American writers instead.

Do you have a problem with this, boy? – Amorella

1435 hours. I can only think of one, Herman Melville for writing Moby Dick. I’m sure there are a couple others. Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath would be one. I just can’t think of any without looking up a list. I was thinking of novelists.  Authors – Emerson, Twain, T.S. Eliot, Whitman, Hawthorne, E. Dickenson, A. Miller, Stowe, T. Wilder, I. Asimov, and E.B. White come to mind as admirable, as well as the Jewish American writer Isaac Bashevis Singer.

What do these writers have in common? – Amorella

They instill heart and intellect in their focus on the human condition. I would like to instill these also. I may have the heart for it but not the intellect (which includes the ability to write and express one's self well.

You left the hospital some time ago and are now at Pine Hill Lakes Park sitting in the shade waiting for Carol to complete her walk. – Carol is in Kroger’s on Tylersville picking up a prescription. You are thinking how dull a life a reader or two might think you are living but I assure you are not. You love the ordinary aspects of your life and can adapt to most of the moments you live. – Amorella

1616 hours. We enjoy the life we lead.

         Once home, post. - Amorella
