Notes - trip to Kim and Paul's / sacred justice /

17 January 15

You had a good trip to Columbus and met Gayle at her apartment near Polaris, visited with her and her three cats, then you three had breakfasts at Bob Evans on Rt. 23, Columbus Pike, for lunch. After taking Gayle home you drove to Kim and Paul’s, visited (you and Paul ended up taking naps as did the boys). Supper at Max and Erma’s at north Westerville. Once home Carol called her sisters about Ralph (who is not doing well at Riverside Hospital). Tonight you two have been alone as Kim, Paul and the boys are at a neighborhood party tonight (six homes on their short ‘cul-de-sac’).

2146 hours. I feel bad about Ralph, we all do. He has had a rough two months and presently has taken a turn for the worst. I would have the plug pulled by now if I were in his situation. I would have done what Bob did, stop dialysis, and be done with this world. Everybody in the family knows my point of view. No need for suffering at the end – what is it going to do, build your character.

Dusk. You are home after having MacDonald’s breakfast with Kim and Owen (who had a doctor’s appointment) and lunch with Kim and Gayle at Panera on Rt. 23 west of Polaris Shopping. Earlier you cleaned up and readied Grandma segments up to the present chapter eight. Tomorrow the Toyota has its twenty thousand mile oil change and tire rotation. Post. - Amorella

You both had peanut butter snacks for supper and watched last night’s “This Old House Hour” and an entertaining and classy “Downton Abbey” as well. You are also happy to be working on chapter eight of book two. – Amorella

2142 hours. This morning Carol and Kim were out after Owen’s doctor’s appointment and I took the quiet time to lean into those strings of Grandma segments. In a flash I resolved the problems in a very simple manner chapter by chapter through the (final) drafts of the segments alone; all done in less than forty minutes. My problem has been over-thinking, making the corrections entirely too complex.

Today you asked Doug about what he thought of the soul in a response to the quotation he sent you this morning:

“Thinking: the talking of the soul with itself.” – Plato.

Here is the essence of Doug's comments:

** **

I think the soul is our essence before our experiences and thoughts get in the way and make their impact. If the soul is our essence it may be quantum mechanical in nature, which would allow many contradicting thoughts and feelings to exist at the same time. I do not think the soul is bound by logic. Somehow our soul defines for us fair play, as in my soul was cut to the quick by that act.” - Doug

Dr. Goss brings up an important aspect that needs to be dealt with in this chapter; how does the soul carry a sense of ‘fair play’ to the heart and mind? – Amorella

2207 hours. This is an unexpected question. Supposing that we carry the thought that souls are the children of Angels, if so, then our sense of justice would come, after a fashion, from a sense of Divine Justice. Dante’s words translated by John Ciardi fall right into place here.

I AM THE WAY INTO THE CITY OF WOE.
I AM THE WAY TO A FORSAKEN PEOPLE.
I AM THE WAY INTO ETERNAL SORROW.

SACRED JUSTICE MOVED MY ARCHITECT.

I WAS RAISED HERE BY DIVINE OMNIPOTENCE,

PRIMORDIAL LOVE AND ULTIMATE INTELLECT.

ONLY THOSE ELEMENTS TIME CANNOT WEAR

WERE MADE BEFORE ME, AND BEYOND TIME I STAND.

ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE.

2220 hours. In my mind I see the lines as the base of what an Angel and a Soul are composed of.

[An Angel and also the Soul is stirred in Sacred Justice, raised by Divine Omnipotence, Primordial Love and Ultimate Intellect. Only spiritual elements time cannot wear are contained in Angels and Souls,  spiritual entities that exist beyond time, space and matter.]

In these books and blog this is a fair literary base on which to stand in terms of Angels and Souls. – Amorella

2235 hours. I don’t know what John Ciardi would say of my taking Dante’s literary darkness and modifying it into light.

You heard him talk twice and shook his hand once, boy. What do you think he would say? – Amorella

I would hope that whatever his comment (if any), his worldly humor would be in its framework. (2239)
