Notes - 'spookiness' it is / no regrets / men's cap

You have decided that “spooky” as a word that defines the world from your perspective stays. – Amorella

Basically, I am the one spooked. To each their own world outlook.

0705 hours. Up early, had breakfast and read the paper. Carol was up earlier and was having trouble with her iMac Internet but I resolved it by reworking her security. She had already picked up the paper. I was surprised the street is wet, as I hadn’t heard it rain.

You are listening to Calm Radio’s classical guitar, solo piano music station. Enjoy, orndorff. Later. – Amorella

1011 hours. Mary Lou called and she is coming down for lunch and to see a movie with Carol. I’ll go for the lunch.

You had a soaker bath after doing your forty minutes of exercises, swept the living room and dining room, kitchen and did some dusting. Carol is up getting ready. The film starts about one so you are eating first. You are feeling better today. Tomorrow morning you have an appointment with Dr. B, one of your all time favorites. – Amorella

1017 hours. She is. I like all my doctors though – reasonable people one and all. We all chat a bit about the world. I take my medicines, keep my records and do some exercise, and I do watch my diet more than I used to – mainly no snacks between meals though we do have one after supper.

         Post. - Amorella

You had lunch at Cracker Barrel and once they are done shopping you will drop them off at the Regal and pick them up after this cool, brisk partly sunny afternoon. – Amorella

1226 hours. I haven’t thought about Dead 9 but I will work on it. I imagine it will be easier to begin again but re-reading what happened in Dead 8.

Change of plans – the girls decided to go shopping at the Deerfield Plaza because the stores are newer and somewhat more varied than in the traditional malls like Kenwood. – Amorella

1246 hours. There is nothing more traditional than the Hammond sisters their Mother shopping that’s for sure. In our youth when Mom and Dad lived in Alexandria and then later in Crystal City Mom Hammond would take all for girls and head to the (then new) Tyson’s Corners Mall along the northwest Washington Beltway. When Mom and Dad retired to Sun City Center, Florida Mom and the girls (however many were home) headed to the large mall up near the University of South Florida. When possible the guys stayed at home reading or watching sports. Dad loved to watch golf and football. The girls might come back with something but sometimes nothing. It wasn’t so much buying as it was looking at what was new or fashionable. We miss those days where Mom and Dad H. were alive. We always had a good time visiting in the Summers, Christmas and/or Spring Break. Mom loved to have the girls home. Dad did too of course. Dad and I got along well also.

Reminiscing is part f growing older, boy. Don’t be embarrassed by it. – Amorella

1311 hours. Life is interesting. It is amazing how easily memories flow when you are not focused on the busy world of your job and raising a family. Most of life seems to have been busyness of one kind or another – focus on your new toys, then gadgets, bikes, cars, sports, girls, marriage, job, house, kids, promotions of one kind or another, paying off debts, weddings, funerals, paying off debts. No more debts, house paid for, children moved out, grandchildren and about that time you are almost done. Every once in a while I’ll see a young family with a little girl about five and I’ll go up and say, “I had a little girl about that age a few years ago, now she’s thirty-five.” I know where the time went but we made sure it wasn’t so fast that we couldn’t enjoy a lot of it. No regrets. So much has happened in our lives and in the world in the last 72 years for me, and 68 for Carol. Life is very interesting. A few smaller regrets but no big ones.

You moved through your life pretty quick, boy. – Amorella

1324 hours. Life is not over yet. I like sitting in the car thinking about stuff while the girls are shopping. It has become a beautiful Spring afternoon. Here come Carol and Mary Lou. (1325)

You are home. - Post. - Amorella

You had a first. You drove blankets over to Tide Cleaners for cleaning and got fifteen percent off when they read the coupon from your iPhone. – Amorella

1608 hours. People have been doing coupons from phones for years I’m sure, but this is the first time I have ever done it. We have another errand to run and I’m going to Kohls and Target looking for a driver’s cap/newsboy’s cap.

You bought a plain black driver’s cap from Target then had left over baked beans and a banana with peanut butter on it for supper; Carol had cottage cheese, fruits and the like. You both had a small had sized bunch of grapes. You watched Sunday’s “Masterpiece Theatre”, “Battle Creek” and NBC News. – Amorella

2100 hours. Another day of retirement has pretty much gone by. No food until after the doctor’s office – for Dr. B. I always have to fast before the blood work. I had that banana about an hour ago and the visit is at 0915. One thing about buying that cap, I don’t have to worry about someone thinking I’m trying to impersonate a CIA officer. I will wear it around the yard as a summer work hat though, it is a good men’s cap.

         Post, orndorff. - Amorella
