Notes - tree limb / Bond or Reddington? / exploitation

Late morning. You have to see Dr. G., your nephrologist, on Thursday and forgot to have your blood tests until this morning. Once you returned you spent an hour moving the tree limb remains that Tim and others had piled up by the garage. A windstorm had come through a few days ago and dropped a fairly large limb on your neighbor’s (to the north) driveway just missing a car in the process. Tim King and others removed the limb and debris and placed it in your driveway. Tim called as you were coming home to tell you about it so you wouldn’t wonder upon pulling in the driveway. It was mostly cut up with a chain saw but you still had to do so hand sawing to make it presentable for the city crew who picks up such things once a month in Spring, Summer and Fall. – Amorella

1122 hours. When Tim called we were at the Artistic Center in Berea, Kentucky. Our limb was big enough but when he called and said five guys helped cut it down to size and move it from her driveway, I thought it was going to be a foot thick but it was only about eight inches. There were lots of small branches and entanglements though and I had to cut them down to manageable lengths. The tree is a Boxer, a weed tree basically; it came with our property on the south edge of Muddy Creek woods. Anyway, it took a while but now that’s done. Carol is out weeding her flower garden. The Avalon is finally put in the garage and I pulled the Accord out for local driving. It hasn’t been run for a couple of weeks or so.

You had left over Papa John’s pizza for lunch and watched the last season episode of “Blacklist” which you both consider better put-together than a lot of major films today. – Amorella

The Blacklist is an American crime drama television series that premiered on NBC on September 23, 2013. Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader), a former U.S Navy officer turned high-profile criminal, voluntarily surrenders to the FBI after eluding capture for decades. He tells the FBI that he has a list of the most dangerous criminals in the world that he has compiled over the years and is willing to guide their operations in exchange for immunity. However, he insists on working exclusively with a rookie profiler by the name of Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone). The show also stars Diego Klattenhoff, Ryan Eggold and Harry Lennix.

Premise

Raymond "Red" Reddington, a former officer of the United States Navy who disappeared twenty years earlier, before becoming one of the FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitives, surrenders himself to Assistant Director Harold Cooper at FBI Headquarters in Washington D.C. Taken to an FBI “black site”, Reddington claims to share the FBI's interest in getting rid of criminals and terrorists he has associated with, that are so dangerous and devious that Cooper is unaware even of their existence. He offers Cooper his knowledge and assistance on two conditions: immunity from prosecution, and working exclusively with Elizabeth Keen, a rookie profiler newly assigned to Cooper. Keen and Cooper are suspicious of Reddington's interest in her, but he will only say that she is "very special". After Cooper tests Reddington's offer in locating and killing a terrorist in the first episode, Reddington reveals that this man was only the first on his "blacklist" of global criminals, which he has compiled over his criminal career, and states that he and the FBI have a mutual interest in eliminating them.

As the series progresses, the mysteries of Reddington's and Liz's lives, and his interest in her, are revealed slowly. Twists are introduced involving other characters.

1454 hours. Wow. What a conclusion to the second season. Reddington and Liz Keen are on the run with Liz Keen, now understanding more about her childhood resting her head on Reddington’s shoulder; Tom Keen, Elizabeth’s husband, is also on the run in a separate direction, leaving the now former Assistant FBI Director Harold Cooper to fret in the loose ends. What a wonderfully written, directed and acted series. I cannot help but wonder what is going to happen to all four, Raymond Reddington, Elizabeth Keen, Harold Cooper and Tom Keen. In my opinion, this is the way more television entertainment should be, well written and well acted. You are entitled to your own opinion and are welcome to it.

Let’s put a bite on this, in a fantasy would you rather be James Bond or Raymond Reddington? – Amorella

1529 hours. Why do you do this?

You like other people to think and I like you to think. Post. - Amorella

2257 hours. Raymond Reddington, I would rather be Reddington. I am surprised at my response. At first, without much thought, I answered Bond but I am no James Bond. I am no Raymond Reddington either but I have more in common with him. I could pretend to be him in my head but I do not have the sophistication of Bond. No use even contemplating it. I am not a ladies man. I have a sense of Reddington’s character, that is, I could ‘think’ such a fictional character. That’s all I have.

This shows one of your weaknesses, boy. You don’t have anyone to exploit but yourself. – Amorella

2305 hours. You don’t either, Amorella. You only have me.
