You are at Pine Hill Lakes Park facing west
under a cloudy sky waiting for Carol to complete her walk before you head the
rest of the way home from Kim and Paul’s. You arrived at Delaware about ten
after eleven, chatted a bit then called Gayle who said she would meet you three
for lunch at Max and Erma’s at the Polaris Shopping Centre area. After a good
lunch Kim went home and Gayle took her car (you followed) to Uncle John’s and
saw his new one bedroom apartment in the care facility of the Methodist Senior
Center on River Road in Dublin. Uncle John looked well but had had a small stroke
in July so he has some short-term memory problems. He has a small kitchen, a
living room with four windows facing west, a bedroom that holds a queen-size
bed, a good size bathroom with a double sink and a large shower, a good size clothes
closet plus a walk in closet that is almost as large as what you and Carol have
in the bedroom. The ceiling is white, the walls a pale yellow and the carpet
peach colored, plus a white painted cabinet with high book shelves to hold a 48”
TV, his DVR, Bose radio and VCR. After leaving you got caught in early Friday
traffic just south of Columbus. Otherwise, you had a good car trip. Carol
decided to stop now to do her walk, and is. – Amorella
1729 hours. We had a good day. Uncle John looks well but he
is having a few memory problems, more than we have noticed before. He is 91. Kim
is having Thanksgiving this year, which is very kind of her since Mary Lou
usually does the honors, she and Paul inherited Mary Lou’s large dining room
furniture – it is a fitting memory to use it for this family Thanksgiving. Here
comes Carol.
You
watched NBC News on the DVR and afterward Carol went up to read while you found
“Winston Churchill – Walking with
Destiny” (2010) on Netflix. -

Winston Churchill:
Walking with Destiny (2010)
Plot Summary
Walking With Destiny highlights Churchill's years in the political
wilderness, his early opposition to Adolf Hitler and Nazism, and his support
for Jews under threat by the Nazi regime. As historian John Lukacs explains,
Churchill may not have won the War in 1940, but without him, the War most
certainly would have been lost. Sir Martin Gilbert, historical consultant for
the film and Churchill's official biographer, adds that had Churchill's
warnings about Nazi Germany's racial policies towards Jews been heeded in the
early 1930's, the Holocaust may never have occurred. The film examines why
Winston Churchill's legacy continues to be relevant in the 21st Century and
explores why his leadership remains inspirational to current day political
leaders and diplomats.
