1239 hours. I have thought about
the books and the blog and during my break I critically watched several “X-Files”
episodes and art films on Amazon Prime. The art films in particular were an
agreeable counterpart to writing; each was an inspiration for further thought.
The plots were also quite creatively constructed, as such; it appears that
while some of the films are critically acclaimed they don’t attract the
mainstream audiences who basically want entertainment first thought second.
This is understandable. People spend enough time reflecting on surviving as
well as they can, and a part of surviving is entertainment.
You on the third episode of the second
season of “X-Files”. The art films, in order, are: Ex Machina, Under
the Skin, Coherence and Frequencies. Below are the Rotten

Ex Machina (2015)
CRITIC’S
SCORE: 92%
Critics Consensus: Ex Machina leans heavier on ideas than effects, but
it's still a visually polished piece of work -- and an uncommonly engaging
sci-fi feature.
AUDIENCE
SCORE: 86%
Movie Info. Alex Garland, writer of 28 Days Later and
Sunshine, makes his directorial debut with the stylish and cerebral thriller,
EX MACHINA. Caleb Smith (Domhnall Gleeson), a programmer at an internet-search
giant, wins a competition to spend a week at the private mountain estate of the
company's brilliant and reclusive CEO, Nathan Bateman (Oscar Isaac). Upon his
arrival, Caleb learns that Nathan has chosen him to be the human component in a
Turing Test-charging him with evaluating the capabilities, and ultimately the
consciousness, of Nathan's latest experiment in artificial intelligence. That
experiment is Ava (Alicia Vikander), a breathtaking A.I. whose emotional
intelligence proves more sophisticated--and more deceptive--than the two men
could have imagined.

Under
the Skin (2014)
CRITIC’S
SCORE: 85%
Critics Consensus: Its message may prove elusive for some, but with
absorbing imagery and a mesmerizing performance from Scarlett Johansson, Under
the Skin is a haunting viewing experience.
AUDIENCE
SCORE: 55%
Movie Info. An alien in human form is on a journey
through Scotland.
***
Coherence
(2014)
CRITIC’S
SCORE: 88 %
Critics
Consensus: A case study in less-is-more filmmaking, Coherence serves as a
compelling low-budget calling card for debuting writer-director James Ward
Byrkit.
AUDIENCE
SCORE: 79%
Movie Info. On the night of an astronomical anomaly,
eight friends at a dinner party experience a troubling chain of reality bending
events. Part cerebral sci-fi and part relationship drama, COHERENCE is a
tightly focused, intimately shot film whose tension intensely ratchets up as
its numerous complex mysteries unfold.

Frequencies
(2014)
CRITIC’S SCORE Score: 100 %
Critics Consensus: No consensus yet with only 6 reviews.
AUDIENCE SCORE: 76%
Movie Info. What if physics determined the laws of
attraction? In a parallel world where human frequencies determine luck, love,
and destiny, Zak, a young college student, must overcome science in order to
love Marie, who emits a different frequency than his own. In an attempt to make
their love a reality, Zak experiments on the laws of nature, putting in danger
the cosmic equilibrium of fate and everything he holds dear. This unique and
experimental drama blends science fiction and romance to create a futuristic
tale where love, science, and fate collide.

hours. My present view: after seeing these films as well as the full first
season of “X-Files” I am at the conclusion the Merlyn stories are all I have
after 15 years of attempting to make a good series of fiction. I am at a loss
to construct anything new. I am not sure what the original seed of these books
is but I have not been able to rid myself of it no matter how many words I
write and rewrite.
You wish you could create script stories
such are used in the above works. The original seed of your creative endeavors is
spiritual though you are not inclined to feel this is so. You like to think you
are not of this world. You like to think that human beings are not of this or
any other world. Your closest doorway to an elsewhere-that-is-not-physical is
with the Dead. Thus you want to show a direct connection with the Dead (the
Past) with the Living (the Present) and with the Dead (the Future). When placed
in a book they are bound as one and thus timeless. – Amorella

have the setting ‘timelessness’.
