You had a late lunch at Potbelly’s on
Mason-Montgomery Road and have stopped at Staples for a new larger calculator
for Carol (kitchen island workspace or office). You have not bought a new
calculator anytime this century. Carol says the smaller ones (good for the car)
get lost in paper piles. A quick stop at Kroger’s for dishwasher soap and you’ll
be on your way this cool partly cloudy Spring afternoon. – Amorella

hours. I like the capitalization of Spring so as not to forget the seasons. We
have a tendency sometimes particularly in semi and urban areas, to forget where
we are. We have car heaters, seat heaters, air conditioning and seat air
conditioning in newer cars. The weather and the stars are not the primary they
once were even two hundred years ago, maybe even a hundred years ago. I read an
article the other day and it reminded me that we don’t even know what gravity
is (exactly)

Question of the Month for February 2001
Question:
What
is gravity?
===
Answer:
We
don't really know. We can define what it is
as a field of influence, because we know how it operates in the universe. And
some scientists think that it is made up of particles called gravitons, which
travel at the speed of light. However, if we are to be honest, we do not know
what gravity "is" in any fundamental way - we only know how it
behaves.
Here
is what we do know...
Gravity
is a force of attraction that exists between any two masses, any two bodies,
any two particles. Gravity is not just the attraction between objects and the
Earth. It is an attraction that exists between all objects, everywhere in the
universe. Sir Isaac Newton (1642 -- 1727) discovered that a force is required
to change the speed or direction of movement of an object. He also realized
that the force called "gravity" must make an apple fall from a tree,
or humans and animals live on the surface of our spinning planet without being
flung off. Furthermore, he deduced that gravity forces exist between all
objects.
Newton's
"law" of gravity is a mathematical description of the way bodies are
observed to attract one another, based on many scientific experiments and
observations. The gravitational equation says that the force of gravity is
proportional to the product of the two masses (m1 and m2), and inversely proportional to
the square of the distance (r) between their centers of mass. Mathematically
speaking,
F=Gm1m2 / r2,
where
G is called the Gravitational Constant. It has a value of 6.6726 x 10-11 m3 kg-1 s-2.
The
effect of gravity extends from each object out into space in all directions,
and for an infinite distance. However, the strength of the gravitational force
reduces quickly with distance. Humans are never aware of the Sun's gravity
pulling them, because the pull is so small at the distance between the Earth
and Sun. Yet, it is the Sun's gravity that keeps the Earth in its orbit! Neither
are we aware of the pull of lunar gravity on our bodies, but the Moon's gravity
is responsible for the ocean tides on Earth.

I think this is funny. What if that is what we knew about ourselves, only how
we behave? Hmm. A lot of knowledge would be left untouched. (I really don’t
know where this bit of commentary came from.)

Draft two
of Dead 11, Book 2 © 2016, april, rho
Two naked souls once and
without spine and eyes and trunk
and hands and feet,
we now have Hearts and Minds too.
Secondary sources not of Souls own
–
With this akin-to-whispering in
heart and mind,
Merlyn mutters,
How is it that wordlessness
matters,
that wordlessness designs
all physics and beyond?
Methinks my heart wishes
to be free of me
but this
doesn’t happen here,
among the
Dead.
*
Merlyn does not exist with the
Dead
as his Soul is akin-to-whispering
with his friend.
When alive Merlyn did not fully
exist;
when then his Soul was
akin-to-whisper
to herorhis likeness in its hunger
or not.
Souls are Primary –
heartsanminds are less than
Primary.
With recollection Merlyn thinks of
when I was alive I ‘felt’ I
had a soul but I had no proof.
Now, dead, I have no proof I
lived.
Residual dreams are not proof.
I was and am only in a dream.
I dream consciousness and I am.
No
melody sets in a raw note
Poetry
must ebb and flow.
I
sit now as rock without a touch of Earth.
I
don’t believe ever really I stepped
on
life’s third rail
with
mine soul stepping on the rail too.
*
Merlyn sits in stone too
itself rising from unmatter
cluttered;
pondering grave Earth –
one of many semi-solid cemeteries
scattered
within the sun’s spin of encompassing
physics.
Shall we, Foretoken and Venerable,
let Merlyn see
a soul and friend shaped in our
unmattered nature?
No one can define life without the
fact of being dead.
Enough though says Foretoken
akin-to-responding
to friend Venerable once as hungry
as sheanhe.
Well-spirited Merlyn is
heartanmind in soul
To envision a multiple of
dimensions
within multiple universes seen and
unseen,
universe known and unknowable.
Merlyn thus ponders almost in the
unknowable –
it breaks the conceptual on how
souls actually are.
Have I one soul or two or three?
Or, have I only a quarter or a
have?
Perhaps three-quarter a soul will
do?
Perhaps a lone decimal point will
do?
And G---D? Where are you?
A colossus holding up said Atlas
point
with nothing but conjecture;
whereas humans might
conjure that gravity might be
holding us up or holding us down
and around and around and around
corkscrewing around the sun we go.
Two naked souls once
without spine and eyes and trunk
and hands and feet
Now, Hearts, we have and Minds
too.
Secondary sources not of souls own
–
To the Living, the Souls together,
Foretoken and Venerable appear
untouchable
yet these two are solid enough
for living or dead heartsanminds
stuck, as it were,
within a fancy spray
both resourceful and heartfelt.
All souls know what they are –
immortal and nothing less.
Souls are stronger than
the physics guiding
and framing many universes
with developed life forms or not.
*
Merlyn sits in stone; rising from
stone.
Our mortal grave, Earth.
One of many semi-solid cemeteries
scattered uncommonly in
encompassed physics.
Venerable touches Foretoken in a
notion –
Shall we let Merlyn see
our souls shapes in unmattered
nature?
Foretoken’s touch responds
To sit in the entirety of no-thing
is Eternal – Bliss-and-Not.
Merlyn mutters,
How is it that wordlessness
matters,
that wordlessness designs physics
and all beyond?
Reflecting, Merlyn rests –
I was born and died centuries ago,
a millennium and more.
From dreamed puffs I,
once warmed bones in a cool aired
sweater`.
*
Shall we let Merlyn see
a soul’s shape in unmattered
nature?
Methinks, the once Merlyn –
sheanhe wishes to be free
but that kind of thing does not
happen.
Venerable touches Foretoken in a
notion
and, Foretoken’s touch responds in
notion
To sit in the nothing is Bliss
Eternal
Two naked souls once and
without spine and eyes and trunk
and hands and feet
search the hearts we have and
minds too –
Alas, such are secondary sources
not our souls own becoming
attached or eaten –
one way or another dissolved
within.
Even to the humane Dead, the
heartanmind,
cannot suspect we, the
uncapitalized, are the primary –
mind, where is the heart’s
self-interest in that?
*
Hearts and minds rise and set in
the ordered each
even though we souls are as a
breath taken in.
How was it though
we souls were essence
without wonder?
Souls are not self-generating.
Souls are not self-serving.
Such is, as seen through weakness
in reason floating dead and
unattached.
Severed human, swimming dead
unattached.
Humanity is not soul’s clothing.
Humanity waters in the soul.
without a sense of nourishment
Souls feed, it seems,
on the opposite of breathing in
and out
*
Merlyn sits in stone;
rising stoned from grave Earth.
Earth one of the many semi-solid
cemeteries
scattered within encompassed physics.
Swarms, no schools of souls from
what end to what beginning?
To remember how it is to be a what
Relative or not to being life in
the living;
only the once been can become the
defleshed.
*
Shall I let Merlyn see
a soul’s shape in unmattered
nature?
A new alphabet for a new
thought
In irregular form Life can be
differently spelt.
Grammar as gravity is the same
living or dead
Grammar is the soul’s shell
Stored outside for good pickings
in memory
A separate spirit recoiling in
memory
Without an inside or out
A line without end and forever
doubted –
no more solid than a periodic
period.
A dot grammarly bent is not
gravity
where no word or no punctuation is
necessary.
Merlyn sits in stone rising from stone
thinking, “My body, my earth
grave,
is one in many a semi-solid
cemeteries
being the yonder of encompassed physics.”
