Mid-afternoon.
You had a late lunch at Potbelly’s and are at Kroger’s on Mason-Montgomery for
milk on the way home. You finished up your exercises this morning and are back
on your more regular schedule with either Wednesday or Thursday and Saturday
off each week. Carol worked on house economics this morning while you read the
new September Motor Trend. Yesterday you had listened to a specifically focused
conversation between your financial advisor, Andy and Carol, then lunch at the
nearby Panera with Kim and Paul; after which you stopped at Cathy and Tod’s for
a delightful two hour chat before heading home. You had a piecemeal supper and
watched a couple DVRed programs before heading to bed. Carol stayed up to watch
the convention. – Amorella
1548
hours. Home. I didn’t even touch the keyboard yesterday until now. This is rare
for me. We were mostly fun busy and I was tired when we arrived home. I am so
glad we have Andy as a financial advisor and that Carol is good at practical as
well as some theoretical home economics. I can never keep with all that stuff. I
am quite happy with my hundred dollars of free money every month – put-in-the-bank-guilt-free-money
I can spend on anything I want at any time.
What about that Tesla? – Amorella
1603
hours. It will not be out for another year and those will sell quickly; if Paul
buys one and I can drive it once in a while I’ll be satisfied. I figure the next
car we buy in a couple years will be a 2018 Accord Hybrid. Carol likes driving the Honda. From what I read rumored about the 2018 model I think I will like it
better than the comparable Camry Hybrid, but who knows. Motor Trend
focused on near self-driving technology and the 2017 models. I didn’t see
anything worth thinking about in practical terms for the next two years.
You both
had small makeshift suppers, watched the news and a couple usual DVRed programs
for entertainment. You read and only have the Epilogue to complete in the Elon
Musk biography. Carol has gone up to read. – Amorella

hours. The Ashlee Vance book is really well done. Musk’s visions give me hope
that given enough time we might survive as a species, at least have a greater
chance, if we live on two planets rather than one. I agree with his broader
thinking and his use of technology to move people about more efficiently. We
also need to use technology to make us healthier and better educated and to
somehow create a mechanism that would allow us to to escape the confines of
government as we know it so that our children and theirs could lead better, fuller
and more humane lives. In the process of creating such a mechanism we have to be
more fully aware of ourselves and our limitations and we have to be willing to
accept our species, our individual selves for what we are so that we might
limit are shortcomings and thrive on our hopes and dreams as the necessities of
living a good life are provided for each to serve ourselves, our fellows and
our children’s children. The mechanism – I have not a clue other than they
cannot be similar or contemporary to the settings of Orwell’s 1984 and
Huxley’s Brave New World. We must go about the business of civilizing
our individual selves as well as our variety of cultures so that we might live
in tolerance of one another.
2236 hours. This already sounds downright silly and foolish, but it is a
secret hope I cannot let go. – rho
