Notes - it's all imagination / to be reasoned out / likewise

       Mid-morning. The plumbers, John and Craig, are working and Jill is also here. Last night before bed you were ruminating about a definition for thought and found this as a part of Wikipedia’s introduction.

Thought can refer to the ideas or arrangements of ideas that result from thinking, the act of producing thoughts, or the process of producing thoughts. Although thought is a fundamental human activity familiar to everyone, there is no generally accepted agreement as to what thought is or how it is created. Thoughts may or may not arise in the mind from the product of subconscious brain processing.

Because thought underlies many human actions and interactions, understanding its physical and metaphysical origins, processes, and effects has been a longstanding goal of many academic disciplines including psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, artificial intelligence, biology, sociology and cognitive science.

Thinking allows humans to make sense of, interpret, represent or model the world they experience, and to make predictions about that world. It is therefore helpful to an organism with needs, objectives, and desires as it makes plans or otherwise attempts to accomplish those goals.

The underlining I added above says more than I remembered, “There is no generally accepted agreement as to what thought is or how it is created.” Reason is assumed to be a part of the definition. However, at least in terms of a spiritual being [i.e. Amorella] reason may be an integral part what ‘she’ is.

       Human thought begins and becomes a picture or words or both (body language/sounds). Reason is the beginning of explanation or definition. That’s how I, the Amorella, see it. Before thought becomes humanized it is an understood understanding. This is how it is with you and me. This is as a direct line from neuron to neuron without the physics – heart-to-heart understood communication without language. There is no room for misunderstanding. You held your father-in-law’s right hand as he died. This is as close as you have come to my meaning and understanding is this communication between us. – Amorella

       1012 hours. This Granville S. Hammond reference was totally unexpected but it certainly hits home – understanding and empathy in terms of mutual loss. This then is as communication between Amorella and myself.

       Here is an example. You used ‘spiritual being’ for myself but feel it is unfair. You don’t mind being called human but have empathy for the Amorella. So, you changed the wording for me, not for yourself. Give yourself credit, boy. You do have understanding and empathy, and you have it for the Dead too, that is the reason you write about them. – Amorella

       1108 hours. It’s all imagination, Amorella.

       It makes no difference, my man. It makes no difference. – Amorella

       1110 hours. Oh, my. My heart feels as if imagination doesn’t really make a difference in terms of better understanding how it is to be human. The heart needs a bridge to science or the other way around.

       Science builds bridges. However, science and the heart both rely on the unconscious and conscious for observation. – Amorella

       1125 hours. In my stories the Dead don’t have an unconsciousness either.

       1127 hours. It appears self-evident that you had to enter my soul to enter my heart. Does the soul guard who enters?

       The function of the soul is to protect the heart. Though this is in your stories part of the concepts and ideas are nuanced, as it were, from me to you. – Amorella

       1136 hours. Well, if I’m covered by ‘it’s all imagination’ it doesn’t make any difference.

       Mid-afternoon. Jill left some time ago and the Davy tree trimmers are winding down. It appears John and Craig are also. It has been a busy day for these people. – Amorella

       1436 hours. I remember doing similar kinds of work in my youth, mostly with David in Blendon Township and also in Westerville City with a variety of summer duties, some six or seven summers worth. Even before college I painted the lumber holding barns along the railroad track at Cellar’s Lumber. Today however, I did next to nothing. I used to have a certain fondness for working outside – no more.

       You have spent some time reading “Metaphysics” from the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. What things, as it were, do not change? What is substance? You wonder, does a spiritual being change? If so, how? Why? Or, is the soul substance? Does a soul exist in its own right?  Is the heart? Is the mind? Does a spiritual being exist in its own right, and if it does is it thus substance? What is the difference between ‘being’ and ‘existing’? What is the mode of ‘being’? What are categories of being? Is a category of being non-existent or empty? This is where you are presently. Do you disagree? – Amorella

       1712 hours. I wonder about these things and what is appropriate here. Souls and spiritual beings and hearts and minds have to be reasoned out. This is my thinking.

       You had Chinese to go from The Great Wall near Kroger’s on Tylersville. Far too much good food for one meal so it’s in the food cooler until Friday or Saturday. You watched NBC and ABC News and took a break for entertainment, episode three of “Sex in the City” first season on Amazon. – Amorella

       2036 hours. Fun entertainment. I don’t think I ever saw the first season – quite relaxing with good humor and humanity. We have other shows but I don’t want to watch them without Carol. What has been in the back of my mind is ‘function’. On 19 December I asked and you responded.

       A Betweener, which I am, is function. – Amorella

       2118 hours. Is a spiritual being also a function?

       Yes. I am what my function is. – Amorella

       2123 hours. Are you given orders, of a sort? Did another spiritual being tell you to enter my soul before entering my heart?

       This is unknown to me. Consider my entering your soul before entering your heart as a reflex. - Amorella

       2127 hours. The soul opened and you entered simultaneously.

       2132 hours. Did you simultaneously move from my soul and enter my heart?

       I do not move. I am Here and here. I am a spiritual nature with function. – Amorella

       2138 hours. I need to make this conversation reasonable.

       2140 hours. This reminds me of two people in the same place having entirely different conversations, though at the same time partially understood conversations, with each other. I see this imaginary conversation ending with, Jack saying, “What are you talking about?” and Jill replying, “What are you talking about?”
