After noon. You did your exercises as Carol
was going at the grocery. – Amorella
1249 hours. I was working on the keyboard functioning and
did not realize Apple has built in dictation. I shut it down to internal only,
but if one wants to she or he can go through Apple where they will make
corrections. Very cool for those who cannot type. I am still getting used to
these toggled keys. I like them though however the touch-to-the-keyboard is not
yet automatically felt (especially where
the fingernails touch the flatter keys). Mac improvements have been made in the
last six years, no doubt about it. Most are internal which is fine with me. In some
ways the visual on the screen looks more like that from an old typewriter
(without paper of course). I like it.
You
had left over Papa John pizza from last night (your and Carol’s favorite:
large, half works, half veggie). Carol missed her hair appointment so it is moved
to around noon tomorrow. She made an excellent cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving
this morning. – Amorella
1434
hours. I was surprised, the sauce is a new recipe, crunchy and sweet; most
excellent. She is always worried about cooking since she no longer has a sense
of smell or taste.
1504
hours. I can’t seem to focus this afternoon.
This is because you have had too much going on the last
couple of days. Buying a new computer is like buying new hands, don’t you
think? – Amorella
1507 hours.
What a thing to say, but deep down, the computer is certainly an extension of
myself. I am a cyborg, especially from fingertips to keyboard. This new MacBook
will become an extension of my very thoughts. I become, in that sense, intimate
with the machine because it literarily reflects my thinking processes or lack
of them.
1523
hours. I just remembered: It is 1963 and I am working at Norris’s
‘Haberdashery’, on State Street, Uptown
Westerville. It has been about two hours since JFK was assassinated. The
particulars are still coming in. I am in a denial of sorts. I know it is true
and I know belief and truth are not the same thing, but I don’t want it to be
true. He was too good of a President for it to be true, too young, too
articulate, too intelligent for it to be true.
Carol suggested a Graeter’s and Kroger’s for a couple more
items. Thus, you are waiting in the Kroger lot at the corners of Tylersville
and Cox after have dessert before supper.
1640
hours. These are big keys but this is good to get used to. Every so often I
have to add a short software program such as License Support Installer v.3.1.2r35429
because the Mac Air did not take some internal updates. I’m sure I need these
because a few of my documents go back into the 1990’s at least.) Also, the
screen is larger and in a natural rectangle shape, the screen on the Air is wider
and narrower. I do like that the battery is about ten hours or so. I can tell
already that it does not lose energy as fast as the Air, plus obviously, it is
a new battery. I never replaced the original. Here comes Carol.
Dusk. You are home having trouble pairing your iPhone with
this MacBook. – Amorella
1740
hours. I need to restart, then it should work because I renamed the MacBook for
Bluetooth. I’ll do it later. I am sitting in the bedroom chair watching dusk move
into night – no lights on and I have the screen light down low. Very cool as
the keyboard is lit and very little light is reflected into the room at least
from this angle. I love dusk and dawn creeping in the open-shaded window of a
darkened room. I can more easily get up in the night and write from the chair
rather than go downstairs.
