Notes - soul criteria / afternoon to dusk / evening

You woke up because you were too hot and have since returned to the first floor and put the fan on. What came to mind upon awakening was something Jim P. said the other day at lunch: “[Working on history with online students] gives me c -? .” – Amorella

0237 hours. Now I can’t think of the word. Comfort comes to mind but that is not nearly correct. Purpose is closer but not correct either. I had it when I got up out of the chair to come downstairs (that was my motivation) because it is a key to the criteria separating heart from soul from mind [meaning reason]. Soul carries a universal (literally and figurative) movement from a material into a spiritual depth – a sunlight and water combination without which life as we know it could not exist to consciously grasp a sense of spiritual light (evolutionary spiritual humanity to move on into the human spirit and from here fundamentally be able to better grasp a concept of something greater, i.e. God to G-d to G---D to G-D) – at least from my own personal perspective as seen within this blog and related novels. The human spirit is attracted to the sense of being as a piece of Nothing with a capital. The capital representing Jung’s “stone” quotation:

You have centered criteria to better define ‘soul’ in context . . . words of stone. – Post. – Amorella

0259 hours. I still cannot think of the word Jim used. Useful, that’s the word. It didn’t start with a ‘c’ after all. Teaching historical subjects and themes keeps Jim feeling useful. We need to feel useful to ourselves and to our society/species; this is a basic aspect of our humanity, to be useful in a positive way. Now I can return to bed. (0303)

Mid-afternoon. You had a late lunch at Panera and Carol is working on her part of the Thanksgiving menu. The early “Arrival” began at 0915 and you had hardly finished breakfast, Carol had not, so that may be put off until tomorrow at 0915 or Monday at 1215 at the nearby theatre. – Amorella

1625 hours. Carol is tired from doing a lot of yard work this last week. With the winds the yard is again full of leaves but this next time should be the last of the major leaf falls of the season. We will probably go up to Kim’s on Wednesday. Sharon, Gil and the kids will be in next week for Thanksgiving also but will be staying at a nearby motel. I haven’t seen them since before their marriage in Jamaica in June or July. It is nice that Kim inherited Mary Lou’s dining room set and she will share it on Thanksgivings and whenever Sharon and Gil are in town. Mary Lou would have liked that. I am having second thoughts on seeing “Arrival” since finding that the main character, the translator, is distraught on her daughter’s recent death by cancer and that that is a major part of the plot. I cannot imagine Kim being destroyed by cancer or by any other reason. It hurts to even consider it. Over the years I have lost several students to accidents or cancer and even one suicide while having them in class. It provokes a very sad time in the heart in that not only is the young person lost, but her or his potential is lost also. It grieves me to think on it. Good kids, one and all.

Such memories are a part of life, boy. You know this. You owe yourself to see the film though because the concept of meeting aliens of one kind or another is dear to the deepest in your heart. – Amorella

1644 hours. Why would this be, Amorella?

As long as you can remember you have had a focus on aliens of one kind or another, mostly the marsupial humanoid types or angels. You try to imagine yourself as an earth alien of a sort, a stranger in a strange land as it were, but you are as humanoid as anyone else genetically, so the ‘stranger’ part has to do with a sense of having been in another place first, before being born. And, wherever that was you imagine others also, but not of your kind for one reason or another. You think it might be due to empathy because you enjoy putting yourself in another’s position, animal, bird, insect, fish – it makes no difference. The most interesting, because you cannot empathize so easily, are those classified as angels. This is the reason you love Milton’s Paradise Lost so much. It is one story where you can imagine, that is, empathize with Milton’s Lucifer and even Gabriel. After all, these are Milton’s characters not the Bible’s. And here is a little inner secret for you – the reason you add heart and soul to mind as far as your marsupial humanoids are concerned is that you don’t feel you have the intellect to combat, as it were, meeting such an alien without a heart and soul as you assume human beings have. You don’t have the mind. You could not be a translator as this character in “Arrival” is. You would hope you could be more equal in heart and certainly in soul since you assume your alien’s souls are no different than human souls. Do you see how this is, boy? – Amorella

1658 hours. You almost always make sense to me when you dig into my inner self. I don’t know if you are right, just as I don’t know if my forty-four responses on heart, soul and mind are correct, but they are reasonable in my heartansoulanmind, that is, the three can be agreeable on such points. Here comes Jadah. (1702)

1717 hours. Jadah just jumped off my lap, fully warmed by the process. What a cat. She loves to be cuddled; curls right up in a circle she does without a care in the world other than being warmed up by either Carol or myself. Being more whale-like I give of more heat.

       Post. - Amorella

How would it be if an alien language was actually us, that is, we as a species, our individual genetic codes, were as individual letters in alphabet and/or numbers?

The readers and/or listeners of Homo sapiens as strings of letters and numbers is a species far removed from our sense of universe even though the readers and/or listeners may inhabit the same space in dimensions normally unimaginable to us and to them. Imagine, for instance, our alphabet and numbers being conscious, living beings existing in such a slow motion that in a hundred billion of our years they do not appear to be alive and/or to move at all let alone have consciousness.

The story and/or the music elsewhere continues for as long as our species exists Here. There, there appears to be no note or correlation between said species (us and them) except that we know we coincidently use written language and numbers to communicate, and so do they. – Just an idea to sleep on. Well, that’s my plan anyway. (2235)

You want to post this on your Facebook page for a reaction, but I suggest you save this for another time. You are attempting to make sense of how communication might be if it were a living entity within itself. Post. – Amorella

2238 hours. Thank you for telling me what I was doing, attempting to make sense of how communication might be if it were a living entity within itself. The concept jumped out at me as I was reading a recent BBC review of “Arrival” a short time ago. Being and Substance may not be a part of the same condition. We may see them that way because we are ‘being’ and ‘substance’. Reality still revolves around and through us. This, in a sense, makes reality no more real nor less real than we are. (2246)

Get a good night’s sleep, young man. – Amorella

2247 hours. It is fun to come up with stuff. Thinking can be a form of entertainment, it is for me in any case, at least once in a while such as now.
