Notes - looking forward / lunch / Francis

Yesterday you skipped supper for a Graeter's treat. Earlier, you both had lunch at Smashburgers and even earlier Carol had a First Watch breakfast with her friends. You read the morning paper for the first time in about two weeks. -- This morning you are feeling better than yesterday though you didn't sleep well. It is cold and the wind brisk. Today you have lunch with Rich, Dave and Bill and are looking forward to it even though not up to par. - Amorella

1006 hours. I am really looking forward to catching up with Rich and friends. It has been about a year since we four last met. I want my routines back, I am a fish out of water with illness.

1128 hours. Arrived at New Krishna and they are about to open. Rich and company should be here within the half hour. Bright and sunny with light fluffies; still, cold.

Later afternoon. Carol is on page 147 of Dick Francis' Crossfire. You are sitting on the west side of Rose Hill Cemetery facing west under the shade of a broad tall pine. When you returned home after lunch Carol had some weekly errands needing done then a stop for a medium Coke at McD's and a large vanilla Frosty at Wendy's you headed up to the cemetery. - Amorella

1632 hours. Bill couldn't make it for lunch but Rich and Dave. We took turns talking. Dave and I spoke more than Rich but we have more leisurely time. Rich and his wife have seen a lot more films than Dave or me. Dave spent a recent four-day retreat in California with a famous Indian guru and his followers either listening to lectures or in deeper spiritual meditations. He was also the volunteer chant drummer during the retreat. It has re-opened a new world to him in retirement. He was hippy-like and obviously much younger in the late sixties. As he was talking I was thinking of Andre Gregory as his character in "My [Wallace Shawn] Dinner with Andre". I focused on biofeedback and up to date science fact and conjecture on meditation. Rich was polite both our directions but basically stayed clear in the more subjectively oriented conversation. Rich spoke on their recent move from Warren County country life (farm with chickens, goats and horses) to Mt. Washington down near Cincinnati's Municipal Airport, Lunken Field some three miles east of downtown. They now live closer to both sets of grandkids but Rich has about a forty minute drive out to work every weekday. He did focus on their December trip to London with a two extra day whirlwind tour of Paris via the Chunnel, said they had a great time.

You appear to be returning to a regular (habitual) mental form today. - Amorella

1701 hours. I did spend some time on chapter fifteen today also -- getting my groove back, Amorella. Fuller unconscious automaticity is returning.

Carol is on page 178 of Crossfire presently. Carol surprised you today with the fact that Dick Francis was once the Queen's Jockey. - Amorella

1706 hours. I knew his stories focused on horseracing. I assumed he was a jockey at one time or was in the business, but I did not know he was Elizabeth's jockey -- very cool. Francis lived to quite an old age and his son Felix helped him with this book in the later years. Carol has read at least a half dozen or so of his books -- at least that many set on her bookshelves. She likes them because they are quieter mysteries with interesting character developments along the way.

       Post when convenient. - Amorella
