Notes - happy to do so /

Mid-afternoon. You have the SC.18.nfd document completed and are ready to work on chapter nineteen. A short time ago you had a later lunch at Potbelly's on Mason-Montgomery Road and stopped at Graeter's for kids' cups desserts. Carol thought it too cold to go read and is in cleaning out more old office files, etc. You are sitting in the Avalon facing west looking at two yellow and black winged finches sitting on your feeder. The pink flowers were full on the crab apple tree just behind the bird feeder a few weeks ago and the dogwood has white flowers about twelve feet and forty-five degrees south of the crab apple. About three feet behind the dogwood are the continuous line of trees and bushes that line the fifteen foot gully and run. The trees hide the houses in your development on the next street over. The gully is thirty to forty feet wide and provides great visual separation throughout Spring, Summer and Fall. Your property goes about ten to fifteen feet beyond the actual run of water. A squirrel is up trying to get food from feeder presently. You can hear the birds and occasional dove cooing from the tree line. - Amorella

1508 hours. It is hard to believe all the trees in back have their leaves, most are full out but the two oaks just popped yesterday. Tim has cut the grass four times already, maybe five. The tree line stretches south three properties and north one; however to the north beyond are the trees lining both sides of Muddy Creek. It is a good sixty to eighty yards across with the K-8 St. Suzanna Parochial School and grounds beyond that. Several varieties of finches just flew in for their afternoon treats. I should sit our here more often. Sitting here reminds me of my grandfather (Popo Orndorff) sitting in the car on Knox Street (across from the cemetery) with the car door open (next to the curb) listening to a Cincinnati Reds baseball game. That was Popo's weekend escape in Spring, Summer and Fall. Now the cardinals are showing up at the feeder. We have three sets of male and female cardinals, and have had for many years now. It is cool (52 degrees) and quite windy -- feels like March. The pigeons just showed up too, one sitting on the bird bath near the south property line shared with the Kings. It has been cloudy all day. A North Carolina wren just landed on the outside mirror next to me; cute little guy. Off he goes. Time for me to put the car away and head in. A fun afternoon break right in our own south side yard.

1530 hours. Happy to do so, Amorella.
