Notes on a Sunday

Dusk. You had a relaxing Sunday and spent an hour or so talking with Carol about the Ohio and U. S. News & World Report rankings of Ohio high schools. Both used different criteria and on the whole you feel USN&WR is more accurate overall. Otherwise, you didn't do much except go to the grocery late this afternoon. You went in for a change after an early supper at McD's. - Amorella

1811 hours. It was a dark, cool and windy day with a bit of ice on the driveway along with patches of rain. We did not have the ice storm that was probable at best. Just as well. I was checking out my email also and discovered a new video of Bob Dylan singing a remake of "The Times They Are A-changing", a 2018 version. I watched and listened twice and dropped it in for sharing on my Facebook page, but I was not pleased in doing so. I found it profoundly depressing, that is, that it had to be remade, which it did, and done well also. Yet somberly and soberly depressing. (1818)

You both had snack suppers, watched NBC News and last week's "Victoria II" on the Irish Potato Famine and the first episode of "Queen Elisabeth's Secret Agents" with the focus on William Cecil, Spymaster One. The next episode (2) will be on William's son, Robert Cecil, as Spymaster Two. Carol is presently watching the Winter Olympics. - Amorella

2122 hours. I still love British history, mostly from the volumes of Winston Churchill mixed with the writers of the various literary times. Carol picked out one of my old literature books I taught from over the years to read. I am surprised. She doesn't remember her English literature so well as she only had a second semester of the class when she returned to the States before graduating and moving on to Otterbein in the Fall. At the beginning of her senior year she was at the AF Base school in Vietnam. Before Thanksgiving they were already closing up the school so it was a chaotic first semester. Carol did minor in English at Otterbein but it was not a teaching minor. She has always been an avid reader of both fiction and nonfiction.

Tomorrow you have some errands to take care of in the morning. Yesterday you both worked clearing out more material from the basement and there is more to do this week before Kim, Paul and the boys arrive Friday to help. Post. - Amorella
