Almost noon. It has been about ten weeks
since you had your hair/beard trimmed and this morning you decided to have it
done; however, Mary Ann isn’t there today so it will be postponed. You have
lunch with Patti Pringle and a Class of 1960 gathering for supper at Jimmy V’s
next Thursday in Westerville and the Sunday after is the birthday party for
Owen (who will be four); this time at a nearby Kid’s Gym. You will stay over
Sunday night and you have lunch with Fritz on that upcoming Monday before
heading home. – Amorella
1156 hours. You make it sound like a
busy week or so, Amorella, with two trips to Westerville. We will be and have
been putting the miles on the Toyota. Last night I spent an hour or so
researching the lasting power of the Toyota hybrid batteries. (I never realized
the plural of Prius is Prii.) I feel less apprehensive after the articles
found. Most expect the motor to last as long as the car – 180,000 miles. Some
Prius taxis have 250,000 miles with no problems. I also found that the Avalon
hybrid pack is tweaked, as is the Lexus 300h; so it is not exactly the same as
what is in the Camry. It was interesting reading, plus I have the “how to” for
taking the battery out and thus replacing it. For the time being though we’ll
just add the miles as we do. For the last couple days though we have been
driving the Accord around town. We still like it because it is a six and is
pretty zippy. Everything still works too, including the seat warmers. I am
assuming we are going out for lunch, but only Carol knows for sure.
You
had a light lunch at Penn Station, ran some errands, drove into Kenwood to
return the Airport Express to Apple as it wouldn’t work with the TW modems you
have. The employee scanned the box without opening and without asking for your
name, address, etc, he reached under the table pulled one hundred and five
dollars and sixty-eight cents out of the box and politely sent you on your way.
You loved it and can easily remember in the late 1980’s buying your Apple
products at MicroCenter in Sharonville. – Amorella
1629 hours. I don’t remember where we
bought them before MicroCenter, but I’m sure we did. The Apple Stores in
Kenwood; Easton and Polaris in Columbus; and one off Cedar Road (Legacy
Village) in Cleveland and the one near the airport in Tampa (International
Plaza) are always busy. Over the years I have bought at least one iPod, iPad or
Apple laptop as well as assorted software in the stores mentioned. Now, when I
need new software I go to Apple online and download it. How the computer times
have changed since the mid 1980’s – what a time to be alive and to be
interested in cool new ‘stuff’.
You are still quite interested in living and
using your mind, boy. – Amorella
That, I am. No one knows what comes
after. It might be an endless sleep. I enjoy life my own way, like everyone
else does. Today has been crisp and cold with still white snow (we had five
inches) on the ground, but the sun shines bright and the sky is a Midwest
winter blue. No complaints from me. No regrets that I can think of. I’m about
as ‘free’ as I am ever going to be.
You
watched ABC and NBC News tonight then last night’s new “Elementary”. Carol is
currently watching one of her programs. You have skimmed the chapters and the
words coming to mind for the chapter’s theme are Spare Parts. – Amorella
2115 hours. I think one word is better
for closer consistency though one is a French phrase. Looking over the
thesaurus under ‘parts’ I find two that might work, ‘proportion’ or ‘function’.
‘Purpose’ will fit better, boy. Give it a try
for now. Later, if you want to change it you are welcome to do so. – Amorella
Purpose, it is for now. I don’t see it
but perhaps I will by the time I complete the (final) editing of these
chapters. I need to make some corrections on the chapter introduction page. I
forgot to italicize “The” before Supervisor.
2149 hours. I
will need to read through this work one more time searching for more uncaught
grammatical and construction errors.
Save that until later. We will run off one
draft copy for this purpose when the work is completed. Who better for the
final hard copy edit but yourself? – Amorella
Shall I read it backwards as I did my
Master’s Thesis searching for the inevitable?
Drop it, boy. – Amorella
2157 hours. This is fun, Amorella, but this work is also very challenging for me.
You wouldn’t have it any other way, my
friend. Post. - Amorella
