Notes - later / to lunch / no choice

This morning you took the Avalon over to Joseph Collision Center on Colerain Avenue on the West Side. A couple of days ago you were waiting in an east-west handicap parking slot in front of the bank for Carol who was in the bank and a Mercedes SUV backed into you while the driver was adjusting parking her car into a like east-west slot facing Cox Road. You were facing east, she was backing west. While she was backing slowly you noticed she was  going to tap the front of the Avalon, which she did about a second later. You had been on the keyboard until that second before and not paying any attention to her driving. Her insurance company allowed you to use Toyota so you did. The estimate to replace the cracked bumper cover (as they call it) is $853.44. - Amorella

1144 hours. While that seems like a lot (I pay nothing) a few years ago I tapped a back bumper on the off ramp of I-75 at Tylersville Road and had to have the fellow's back bumper cover replaced; it was about twelve hundred dollars which my insurance paid. (They did not raise my rates.) The small dent was about the size of a quarter in change. I could not believe how much it cost to fix his car at the time. Today, it seems Toyota is more reasonable. Always something, such is life. The woman who hit me was  very reasonable and we were both polite. It was an accident plain and simple. No one was hurt and both cars were/are drivable. She was a very nice younger middle-aged lady. We both have a dark sense of humor and it benefited our conversation at the time.

Why didn't you bring this up when it happened? - Amorella

1155 hours. I suppose I forgot about it. I was not inconvenienced at the time. Today I had to drive to Toyota, otherwise I probably would not have mentioned it at all. Besides, you brought it up not me.

       Post. - Amorella

1157 hours. Why did you bring it up?

Because it is part of your existence, your reality in the world. It obviously did not affect your writing until now. This is how your day has been. Eventually you will go to lunch and wait for another thundershower this afternoon. Later, my friend. - Amorella

1333 hours. Carol is talking to Linda. I am trying to piece all this material on consciousness and spiritual aspects together to get a sense on what is useful in Soki's Choice. I cannot imagine it will be much other than a direction towards a theme or character rather than plot.  Perhaps none of it is important now - maybe it's a fluke or coincidence. Quite frankly, I forget what we are doing other than going over chapter twenty-five at a very loose or unorthodox pace. Actually, time doesn't really feel like it has anything to do with working on the book. I remember when I had a deadline of completing and publishing a book a year for three years. Obviously, I did it but the books are not in a final draft mode, so what good did that do?

You got them self-published, one a year for three years; that was your goal. - Amorella

1344 hours. It was, but a near final draft as a final was not the goal. I did it anyway. I guess I just wanted the books to stand on their own literally, on a bookshelf.

Thus, you see, it was a material goal to be published not a spiritual goal to have written well to be published. - Amorella

1348 hours. That's an unexpected comment.

My observation appears to be true to you or you would be protesting. - Amorella

1350 hours. I didn't think about it as spiritual, yet content-wise, it was spiritual, certainly between the lines.

Content-wise the Merlyn books, all three of the originals, are spiritually oriented, very much so. - Amorella

1353 hours. You are going overboard here, Amorella.

No, my young man, you forget these are heart and soul books bent to your mind so you could focus on the words. English does not have the vocabulary of a Betweener like myself. You are an unsorted species. - Amorella

1358 hours. I just want to write something worthwhile, something to make people think a bit as they read.

That's what your blog is for -- for your thinking and reading.

1359 hours. I am ready for lunch then I am going to come home and take a nap.

       Post. - Amorella

You watched NBC News, "Designated Survivor", "NCIS" and a half hour of Rachel Maddow on MSNBC. For supper you and Carol shared a very partial bag of left over corn chips and a fresh bag of nuked popcorn. - Amorella

2153 hours. We are not a wild couple. Dewey's pizza was the highlight of the day. Sometimes, at the end of the day I find something interesting -- like yesterday's quick refresher on The Sacred and the Profane. Sometimes things come to mind and I am in a flourish of fun, like yesterday. Today was more mundane.

Are you apologizing for having nothing interesting to say, that is, for being boring? Are you bored, boy? - Amorella

2201 hours. I think it is just a letdown from yesterday's excitement recapping what is sacred and what is not. I think the soul is sacred but not the heart and mind. When linked, as it were, as a trinity, the whole is sacred but otherwise there is a lot of good old fashion earthiness about us. I imagine that is where our poetry is, in the spin. Yin and Yang.

In here, the heartansoulanmind is not Yin and Yang. - Amorella

In Chinese philosopy, yin and yang (also yin–yang or yin yang,  yīnyáng "dark–bright") describe how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another. Many tangible dualities (such as light and dark, fire and water, expanding and contracting) are thought of as physical manifestations of the duality symbolized by yin and yang. This duality lies at the origins of many branches of classical Chinese science and philosophy, as well as being a primary guideline of traditional Chinese medicine, and a central principle of different forms of Chinese martial arts and exercise, such as baguazhang, taijiquan (t'ai chi), and gigong (Chi Kung), as well as appearing in the pages of the I Ching.

Duality is found in many belief systems, but Yin and Yang are parts of a Oneness that is also equated with the Tao. A term has been coined dualistic-monism or dialectical monism. Yin and yang can be thought of as complementary (rather than opposing) forces that interact to form a dynamic system in which the whole is greater than the assembled parts. Everything has both yin and yang aspects (for instance, shadow cannot exist without light). Either of the two major aspects may manifest more strongly in a particular object, depending on the criterion of the observation. The yin yang (i.e. taijitu symbol) shows a balance between two opposites with a portion of the opposite element in each section.

In Taoist metaphysics, distinctions between good and bad, along with other dichotomous moral judgments, are perceptual, not real; so, the duality of yin and yang is an indivisible whole. In the ethics of Confucianism on the other hand, most notably in the philosophy of Dong Zhongshu (c. 2nd century BC), a moral dimension is attached to the idea of yin and yang.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines:
yin (jɪn) Also Yin, Yn. [Chinese yīn shade, feminine; the moon.]
a. In Chinese philosophy, the feminine or negative principle (characterized by dark, wetness, cold, passivity, disintegration, etc.) of the two opposing cosmic forces into which creative energy divides and whose fusion in physical matter brings the phenomenal world into being. Also attrib. or as adj., and transf. Cf. yang.
b. Comb., as yin-yang, the combination or fusion of the two cosmic forces; freq. attrib., esp. as yin-yang symbol, a circle divided by an S-shaped line into a dark and a light segment, representing respectively yin and yang, each containing a 'seed' of the other.

yang (jæŋ) Also Yang. [Chinese yáng yang, sun, positive, male genitals.]
a. In Chinese philosophy, the masculine or positive principle (characterized by light, warmth, dryness, activity, etc.) of the two opposing cosmic forces into which creative energy divides and whose fusion in physical matter brings the phenomenal world into being. Also attrib. or as adj. Cf. yin.
b. Comb.: yang-yin = yin-yang s.v. yin b.

Above selected and edited from Wikipedia - intro to Yin and Yang

2228 hours. I do not see metaphysics in the Oxford English definitions provided by Wikipedia or in the rest of introduction of Yin and Yang above. Cosmic forces are not spiritual to me because they are tangible properties. Thought is metaphysical because in itself it has no tangible properties. I think dualism, a formed use of numbers or even a single number is not metaphysical in itself. For instance, even a concept of a trinity is both one and three at the same time. How is this? It doesn't make sense to use any number as a representation of that which is most Sacred. Even Sacred would seem to me to be better represented by at least a dash within, i.e. Sacr-d like G-d. If one were to say, "G-d is," there is no need to say, "G-d is one." Why the addition when it is unnecessary?

Nothing else to add, boy? - Amorella

2241 hours. The above are just thoughts that come up.

You are troubled by them. - Amorella

2242 hours. I am troubled because I thought them. Culturally, I feel I was 'taught' not to think such things because they are unholy.

If thought is seen as metaphysical then it would seem to be holy or sacred would it not? - Amorella

2245 hours. We are back to the cosmic forces of good and evil.

What about the cosmic forces of light and darkness are they not perceptual? - Amorella

2248 hours. We have to have something to define and describe the moral forces of good and evil. We have a moral sense, we need it to define justice.

How do you think your marsupial humanoids would tackle such a problem twenty thousand years from now, or twenty thousand years ago? - Amorella

2254 hours. I do not know. They do have a moral sense though. It is bound in the individual's connections with the three world community.

The interconnections of the one to the many. - Amorella

2255 hours. How the individual learns to live within the community and how the community learns to live with the individual.

Such discussions do not need to mention good or evil as moral forces. They need to focus on doing unto others as you would have them do unto you. This is how your marsupial humanoids have thought long before they ever thought about others, out there among the stars. They had to develop a way to live honestly among themselves. Post. - Amorella

2301 hours. You bring me around to things I already know but do not consider viable for living in the real world.

Your marsupial humanoids created a different world to live in because they had no choice. This is how it is that Soki's Choice is being written. - Amorella
