Lost in Translation: The world's most unique words?
By Fiona Macdonald

Mangata
In the introduction to her book Lost in Translation, Ella Frances Sanders writes: “There may be some small essential gaps in your mother tongue, but never fear: you can look to other languages to define what you’re feeling”. The British designer has illustrated 50 words that have specific meanings in cultures around the world, including Mangata, Swedish for ‘the road-like reflection of the moon in the water’. (All images reprinted with permission from Lost in Translation by Ella Frances Sanders, published by Ten Speed Press, an imprint of Random House LLC)

Akihi
“The speed and frequency of our exchanges leave just enough room for misunderstandings … and now perhaps more than ever before, what we actually mean to say gets lost in translation.” Sanders believes the ‘untranslatable’ words can offer small moments of recognition regardless of native language. Akihi is a Hawaiian term expressing a situation familiar to many – the forgetfulness felt immediately after being given directions.

Hiraeth
There is often poetry in labelling the intangible: the Welsh term Hiraeth has similarities with the word ‘saudade’, describing a sense of melancholy that is supposedly characteristic of the Portuguese or Brazilian temperament, and sums up wistfulness for a place that never was. According to Sanders, learning about words like this “reminds us of how inherently human we all are—that we are all made of the same stuff, that we don’t necessarily need fluency in other languages to be able to communicate well”.

Iktsuarpok
An Inuit noun, Iktsuarpok exists “somewhere between impatience and anticipation”. It sums up the “feeling that compels you to go outside and inside, and outside and then inside again, to check if someone is walking over the hill or around the corner”. As Sanders tells BBC Culture, “often these words give a name to feelings or actions that we already know and recognise. Then, someone from Brazil isn’t too different to someone from Sweden, who isn’t too different from us.”

Kummerspeck
The German expression Kummerspeck – meaning ‘grief bacon’ – refers to the excess weight gained from emotional over-eating. “Unfortunately, we are programmed to find comfort in the edible,” says Sanders. “Until you catch sight of yourself in a reflective surface a month later, it often works.”

Wabi-sabi
The Japanese expression Wabi-sabi means “finding beauty in the imperfections, an acceptance of the cycle of life and death”; according to Sanders it is derived from Buddhism, which teaches that understanding “our transience and the asymmetry within our lives can lead us to a more fulfilling yet modest existence”.

Pisanzapra
Many of the words express a form of measurement specific to a certain place. The Finnish word Poronkusema describes ‘the distance a reindeer can comfortably travel before taking a break’, while Pisanzapra is a Malay term referring to ‘the time needed to eat a banana’.

Kalpa
Meaning “the passing of time on a grand, cosmological scale”, Kalpa is a Sanskrit term. Sanders says: “Once you have a word for something, it becomes much more tangible, much more accessible. The shapes of your thoughts begin to include these different ways of seeing, of being.”

Tsundoku
The Japanese expression Tsundoku, meaning “leaving a book unread after buying it, typically piled up together with other unread books”, has offered reassurance to book hoarders. One forum allows avid readers to join if they have more than 1000 books – Sanders claims that “the Tsundoku scale can range from just one unread book to a serious hoard”.

Boketto
“It’s nice that the Japanese think so highly of thinking about nothing at all that they actually give it a name,” says Sanders. Boketto – meaning “gazing vacantly into the distance without really thinking about anything specific” – is her favourite word; she says: “I’ve been known to do this far too often.”

1026 hours. I will have to read these carefully. I love grasping innuendos about how people think and consider. It also helps me to think ‘alien’ from myself. Thought-shifting is the word I have for it.

1251 hours. Among other things, after taking the time to read the above more carefully I can see that thinking ‘alien from myself’ is basically thinking like most anyone else who is human. This has threads of dark humor embedded for my realistic interpretation.

You are thus no more of an exception than anyone else, is that the thread? – Amorella

Yep. This is always understood deeper down but once and a while fancy takes an unprecedented leap. You know, like a small bass jumping two feet out of the water for an insect long gone by the time he arrives.

Late afternoon. You are at Hallmark on Mason-Montgomery Road after a very late excellent lunch at Outback. You each had the Wednesday special, a three-course dinner, salad, steak and dessert, for $11.95 each.

1644 hours. We are home and a Winter cold is creeping in from the northwest this thickly cloudy day before dusk. I am wondering on how the story on the progression of the soul can be incorporated in these Merlyn tales?

You rush things, boy. Earlier, mid-morning, you followed through with your forty minutes of exercises while Carol was on the phone with her sister Linda. You think on the wheel as an ideal for this progression as you call it but realize there is a sloppiness built in – with nothing perfect in this world or the next or the one before, for that matter. – Amorella

1750 hours. I had a short nap and feel better. When I began this series I did not realize I would come up with more concepts (through you) such as this. I feel like I should scuttle all these books and start anew now that I have a broader perspective.

Boy, you have no idea. Consider, once you complete these other two books, don’t you imagine you will have an even broader fictional perception? – Amorella

1757 hours. If I live that long, what do I do then? Start anew? To stretch reason and imagination from the soul to beyond a cluster of universe takes in about everything – unless, of course, all that is discovered in a raindrop. Surely, eventually there would be an end to it. As I have a body, I cannot think outside of the concept of another body (organic-like system).

If at that time you feel the same then this should be the conclusion of such mythological matters. You will have used your reason and imagination to carry you much further than a single lifetime on a single planet. – Amorella

1808 hours. I will say that writing allows me to more intimately sense all these concepts and my humanity feels, so far, to have gained from it.

Good. I agree. Post. - Amorella

Snack supper and you watched NBC News. Carol is talking to her sister, Gayle. You want to get started with Chapter Eight, “The Dead” hoping to see some of these expanded thoughts put to use while still fresh. – Amorella

1950 hours. I made a working document of Dead 8, so perhaps later tonight. I really want to develop a sense of these concepts in the novel; otherwise it is of no use as far as I can see.

         Post. - Amorella

2205 hours. I am 235 words into the first draft of Dead 8.

Notes - art films / a mythology of souls / angelic wings

Late morning. Having trouble with the right thumb this morning, boy – hard to hit the space bar. You are at Kroger’s on Mason-Montgomery after buying fuel at the Kroger filling station for two dollars and eighteen cents a gallon. You never thought you’d live to see the day when gasoline was so cheap. Carol has a Retired Blue Ash Elementary rogue lunch at Trio’s in Kenwood today so you are dining in probably on baked beans and hot dogs while you watch a movie on Netflix, at least this is your present plan. – Amorella

1115 hours. We are home. I hadn’t thought about what I was going to do when she is at lunch. What you say sounds pretty good though if I can think of a good film – an old Swedish art film sounds good – something by Bergman. “The Seventh Seal” comes to mind first, or something by Fellini, perhaps “8½”.

Why would those two be the first films on your mind, boy? – Amorella

1125 hours. They were the two art films of the 1960’s that impressed me the most.

         Post. - Amorella

You selected specific peanut and walnut pieces out of a can of “healthy nuts” for your lunch and left the rest. You could not use Netflix because you could not remember Paul’s password to get into your account. Instead you watched “Revenge of the Empire” on Blu Ray and the recent rerun of the “I Love Lucy Christmas Special” while Carol was at lunch and shopping at Macy’s afterword.

1720 hours. I enjoyed them both. I have become attached to the Xmas tree lights. Dusk is rapidly falling away into evening. Tomorrow is time to work more on cleaning up the house. Basically, I am up for taking a nap but it is too late in the day.

Evening. Carol had green beans, a baked potato and steak burgers for supper. Earlier you had dessert at Graeter’s. You watched “NCIS.LA”, “Major Crimes”, a “Modern Family” and NBC News.

2130 hours. I am wondering about the sequences of the Dead into swarming and what that is about? What will we have the Dead do? There has to be a purpose like pollination or something that allows further growth, but how would the Dead grow? What experiences tie them together? The Living have cultures, language, family, economic stability, but the Dead it would seem to me are pretty stable without an economy. The language is understood intuitively; I suppose like body language is understood within cultures.

In here the soul eventually ‘absorbs’ the mind and heart – the Dead grow into the soul until the three parts, as it were, are one. – Amorella

2139 hours. This I did not expect. I thought the focus would be on the growth or maturation of the Dead but it is on the soul.

What else would this be for, boy? The soul is first and foremost. – Amorella

2143 hours. The soul learns humanity; being human is as the curriculum the soul must master.

The Master becomes the Student. – Amorella

         I do not understand this.

The master soul becomes the student human and does not graduate, so to speak, until the soul is fully a human student. – Amorella

How does the swarming fit in as far as these books are concerned?

A Gathering – souls, a body of friendly spirits, move and thus make waves (of sorts) – ripples within physics and metaphysics. These ripples are as emotional tensions, hauntings that keep reflections in movement, that stir the souls to rise from what-is-not-known. Is this something you can work with? – Amorella

2156 hours. If I can see reason I can work within it.

This goes back to the mid-eighties when you learned to use the washer at the end of the string held dangling by your thumb and forefinger. The nerves controlled by the subconscious. The ripples, if you will, are as such a type of nerve that allows a sense of being. Hauntings, in here, are not what they seem. Reflections come from being haunted. All creatures of higher consciousness are haunted by their own reflections, don’t you see. It is a rule. It is the framework of the soul. Post. – Amorella

2205 hours. I think this is probably a simplification, but it is one I can work from. This allows the universe to have a sense of its own being so that we may create personifications of this for a story understanding – a mythology that brings small details and large concepts into the same circumstance.

That is it; this singular concept is first about the human circumstance, not human theatre. Post. – Amorella

2211 hours. This is easier to grasp. Thank you, Amorella. Wow. Interesting. How will this work into the book? This tension -- a part of the "salt and pepper" in the book.

2216 hours. This 'reflection' -- can it be mistaken for the movement of angelic wings?

Now, there's an unexpected thought, boy. - Amorella

Notes - afternoon / consideration / fanciful thought / metaphysical light

Late morning. The heat pump technician is here replacing a part that should be under warranty. Otherwise it is a non-descript cloudy and cool day ahead depending mainly on what projects Carol wants to have started or completed by the end of the day. You did talk to Kim who said she would take the outdoor Xmas lights you were going to give to the Salvation Army.

You did forty minutes of exercises and had a leisurely bath afterwards. It seems to have done temporary wonders for the arthritis and whatever else ails you. Carol is outside talking to the neighbor and you are thinking about lunch in about an hour – maybe Outback for a change as they are now open for lunch during the holidays.

1314 hours. I do feel better. I did exercises on Saturday but not yesterday . . . I have to take my glucose before lunch. It has been down. Certainly the insulin at night has helped stabilize lower count.

1612 hours. I received a note from BookBaby about book sales. At least I better see how it is; I told them I’m fine with it. This is how it works. First, they are still waiting on September sales; second, every store has a different lag time reporting the sales; and third, BookBaby doesn’t want to post the sale until they actually have the money from retail in their hands. I told them I hope to be done with book two by summer. I really need to get back to work, but the break has been nice.

You and Carol had left over Papa John’s pizza for lunch, nuked it is as good as it was first made. You watched last night’s “The Mentalist” and “CSI”. Carol is working on Xmas cards and you are about to help with that. Later, dude. Post.

You dropped off Christmas decorations and working indoor/outdoor lights at Goodwill as well as a few Xmas cards to the Post Office. Dusk has settled in, the Christmas lights are on and Spooky is checking out the birds in the front bushes and tree while Jadah is having her supper. Carol is readying to go to Panera or a like place for supper. Tonight you hope you both can work on the cards and have them out tomorrow. Also, Carol has some Macy shopping for Kim tomorrow or Wednesday. – Amorella

1728 hours. I’m fine with it. We are in a busy season. I enjoy the lights, particularly the clear white ones. Every time I look at the lit tree with any consideration at all I think of each light as a universe and the branches and needles as some sort of mysterious sub dark matter extensions holding everything in a fluid-like place where movement and time is allowed. The material worlds/universes are based on space, weight and movement; those are my dynamics. We give ourselves too much consideration.

         Post. Enjoy supper. - Amorella

Evening. Panera for supper then a ride around nearby neighborhoods looking at the holiday lights. Once home you turned on the Christmas tree, which inspired this comment on your Facebook page tonight. – Amorella

** **

We have a small Christmas tree lit with miniature white lights in the living room window. With the room lights off the sight becomes as a fictional reality in my mind. I see each of the lights on the dark tree as a universe similar to the one in which we exist. The concept needs only a small bulb lit tree to have so many universes. From the vast imaginary distance it seems to me it wouldn't make much difference what Holiday is celebrated; that would be in the mind of the beholder. This little ditty exemplifies to me how much we do not know. I like to think we do not know very much about how reality is. I myself enjoy such fanciful thoughts. Maybe you do too. - rho   :-)

** **

2015 hours. I have said such things before in the books and blog. It is probably a bit didactic and arrogant, but then that is part of who I am.

         Post. - Amorella

Mid-evening. As you enjoy your view of your tree from afar enough to share it on Facebook, where are the spirits of those with enough consciousness to carry them beyond the physics? You humans like to group things. Group the ‘human-like’ spirits within each galaxy within each universe. What purpose do they have? Does each galaxy of spirits swarm? How does the swarming affect/effect the others of the said universe? What then of the spiritual connections with all the other universes within this tree or bush or whatever that grows universe-like balls like haunted cherries? Haunted galaxies and universes with spirits spread thin like pollen in the wind. Where are these Dead, these spirits once consciously living in the physical world they all share because they are from the same ‘tree’ boy? How does this all work? Why? What effect does this have on the Living in any of the universes? What effect does this have on the Living on Earth in particular? What are the ‘ground rules’ here? How does the fluidity run in the metaphysics of all things great and small? What is the soul’s position in all this grandness? And, the heart and mind too? Let’s say the soul is a soda straw, who gets sucked in? What is the recipe of the heartanmind mix? Is the recipe from what drops to the bottom or what rises to the top like cream?  What do you want to do with this boy since you enjoy fanciful thoughts? I’m curious. Aren’t you? Post. – Amorella

2149 hours. Whoa. This is too much Amorella. I do not think of the soul as a straw though I can easily imagine the human in me getting sucked in and up into something. At least it is food for thought, so I might gain some humor as a consequence. Are you stirring the pot for a purpose here?

The point orndorff, is that if you have an analogous shell of a tree with lit universes, there has to be a nut of reason for the Dead within it.  In these books and blog the Dead and the Living are always connected whether each realizes it or not. Capiche? – Amorella

2202 hours. I think I understood this “always connected” but I don’t believe it has ever been stated as such. I am thinking in terms of a metaphysical-like quantum entanglement.

This will do as being analogous though it is not correct. – Amorella

2206 hours. This only has to help me gain a sense of reasonable human understanding for communication purposes. This is all fiction to me because even if it were to have a truth to it only a shadow of the representation would be available on the cave wall.

We are talking about the ‘metaphysical light’ as it were, not the shadow on the cave wall, boy. – Amorella

2209 hours. Okay, I am jumping off the high board into the deep water here Amorella. I will need time to adjust.

Silly boy, you adjusted some time ago. Post. - Amorella

14 December 2014

Notes - such humor / settled mind

Late Sunday morning. You watched a YouTube production on using the Shark floor steamer and are going to use it on the upstairs bathrooms today.

1127 hours. I feel better seeing the machine in operation. The production says that it is not better than mopping the floor the old fashioned way but it is more convenient in that the floor dries almost immediately. Carol bought the machine I’ll give it a try. She is on the phone with Linda, who has only three teaching days left in her teaching career. Good for her. The four Hammond sisters will all be retired by the end of next week. Cathy and Gretchen are retired, so that’s all us Orndorff’s. What lives we eight have had. Amazing to me since I’ve known my sisters their whole lives and have known Carol and her sisters since they were 12, 14, 16 and 19. Linda is the youngest and was in junior high. Gayle was a freshman. Mary Lou was a sweet sixteen, and Carol nineteen, when I first became acquainted with the Hammond family. Cathy is the same age as Carol and Gretchen is the same age as Gayle. Our family generation except for me is a miniscule part of the baby-boomer generation. I wonder what the Dead might think of the ‘blood-lines’ when there isn’t any blood? (1151)

You used the Shark steamer easily and with success. Carol made scrambled eggs and ham for lunch. You made the toast and also read the newest Harper’s during the quiet lunch. Carol worked on an Enquirer word puzzle at the same time. You each had a Klondike ice cream bar for dessert. The day is as cloudy as it ever was – the only sound is that of someone cutting wood with a chainsaw. One of those days, eh, orndorff? – Amorella

1458 hours. You don’t use “eh” that often, Amorella. The word has a funny spelling. Used in the context you have it would appear to me to sound “AA” as in [h]ey with the meaning “don’t you think?” or “don’t you agree?” I have to say it almost has an Upper Michigan, Wisconsin and/or Canadian flavor to it. I’m still thinking about the bloodlines among the Dead, at least in the Merlyn books – there wouldn’t be any. So and so begetting so and so other wouldn’t be worth a hill of beans. Yet, all along I use the concept of everyone being related to everyone else going back to our (that is, every one who is alive; to her or his) original theoretical genealogical Mother.

In here, boy, it is the heart of humanity that is carried on through the generations. Later. Post. – Amorella

1517 hours. I must be terribly boring.

What is your emphasis on “must"? Is this a declarative sentence or a mismarked question? – Amorella

1520 hours. Such humor you have.

Late afternoon. According to BookBaby you sold three books via Amazon Kindle earning $6.15. You are surprised that you ‘raked in’ so much for a $2.98 ebook. – Amorella

I am, that’s $2.05 a book. I was sure Amazon would take more. Actually, I had no idea how much they would take but assumed I would make maybe ten percent or thirty cents a book. BookBaby Publishing charged me $337.00 to print and publish the title page and book contents. This was a fair price as far as I am concerned because the ebook has a professional look and I am quite satisfied with their work and distribution.

Dusk. The lights on the tree lit moments ago. Do you have something on your mind? – Amorella

1722 hours. No, my mind has settled for the night.

13 December 2014

Notes - a manifestation? / comparing an 'episode' Note from 2005 to today / press

After noon. You completed your forty minutes of exercise a few minutes ago and are thinking on a post where I said learning was first and foremost among human beings and not the economy. – Amorella

Yes, I read you wrote that somewhere but can’t remember which post and I can’t find it either. It doesn’t make any difference in this context. The point is that if I do learn something new every day isn’t there a way I can be more efficient in doing so?

You focused on heart and soul and mind and you have developed an understanding but it sounds like you want to put this on a scientific plate. – Amorella

I don’t know what I want other than to continue to tie it with the physical in the Merlyn stories. When I see a huge swarm birds in migration I wonder if human spirits could be like that – a swarm of most all the dead human spirits flying looking to learn new things even though they didn’t experience them directly just as birds would be looking for food for energy. It is in the swarm of the birds. How do they know where are (in the midst of the swarm) and where they are going? It looks as if it is directed intuitively. And, though human beings don’t swarm spirits may do so from time to time. It is interesting to think on. What would cause a company of human spirits to gather and then to swarm?

A manifestation, to create an appearance. – Amorella

1356 hours. To whom? Why? What would it look like? How would it be perceived?

About time to go to lunch. Later, post. - Amorella

You returned to Hallmark for more wrapping paper, then to Milano’s for lunch (VOA Centre). Carol had a hamburger (not so tasty) and you a calzone (very good). You have one stop at Kroger’s on Tylersville then home. You are going to clean the upstairs bathroom floors, then do the kitchen floor later. Carol has the bed made for Craig and Alta and you need to dust and sweep the upstairs.

1535 hours. Sometime back, somewhere in my notes in the last ten years, I wrote of a flash of ghostly sequence that was out of the blue as usual. Spontaneous, it was. I was sitting, facing the west wall of Mary Lou’s living room in Westerville. This happened a few days after Mary Lou’s first husband (he since remarried) died. Suddenly I glanced up towards the northwest ceiling corner and a envisioned seven or eight human spirits on a kind of roller coaster (without the roller coaster of course) and they dropped from the ceiling to about two feet off the floor and back up towards the southeast ceiling. They appeared to be having fun and fourth or fifth one back was David. We saw one another and he pointed and said in his own voice, “That’s Richard. I know him.” Then, they vanished moving back up into the air and ceiling. I thought to myself, ‘David is having fun.’ If I knew what year David died I could find this is my notes.

That should not be difficult. Do that, then publish what you wrote and you can see how will you remember the event. – Amorella

1548 hours. That sounds interesting. The point I am making though is that although that was not a swarm of spirits it was a line of them sitting as if they were on a rollercoaster and coming down the hill from the ceiling then rising back up again towards the ceiling. This event lasted a second or two but it was not a dream sequence and they were no more than four or five feet from me personally.

On the way home from the store you asked Carol when David died and she said February or March 2005 so this should be easy to check. Carol is adding small candy canes to the tree for a more festive tone. – Amorella

1610 hours. I am not saying this was really David’s ghost. With a circumstance like my own you take such events in a personal manner. Comes with the territory of being stuck in the physical body I’m in. Such events are manifestations of a sort, like being in a quick flash inducing a hypnotic-like state. – Here is the slightly edited post from 15 February 2005. It is edited for clearer readability.

Notes -15 February 05

1250 hours. Carol and I just finished over an hour walk from uptown down to the dam at Westerville Park and up along University to the cemetery and around the cemetery taking the path down to the creek, then back up around the mausoleum and back up pass the vet memorial stones and up Knox to College and back uptown. We parked right across from our old apartment at 2 West College. I pointed out places and people of interest to me but she wasn’t interested . . .

This reminds me of how detached I must be to most people. I don’t feel that way though, in fact, I feel more attached. I like to remember when I can. I suppose it goes back to my dysfunctional memory. Who knows? Who cares?

This morning though, earlier, just before I was writing the last piece I put in the chapter, I felt a strange sensation I have not felt since some time ago. It was as an unusual but steady wind, but it was not physical, a breeze of maybe five miles an hour or so, not much, only it was internal, that is, it passed through me. I thought it was the Dead, some of them anyway, and somewhere in the first third of the duration of this phenomena [event] I heard the distinctive voice of David. In passing he said, That’s Richard,as he entered on the right and as he left out my left side a second later he said, “Richard, I know him,” then he was gone, maybe four feet to the left of me, that’s how it felt. And, I sensed that he said it to someone just behind or slightly behind him on his right.

Now, I know this is only imagination playing tricks. I have had it happen before, and I at one time believed it was real, that I could talk, or at least listen to the Dead from time to time, but that is not true. Why would it be? With all this writing I have learned I have a vivid imagination. I just have to let it go at that. But it was interesting nevertheless, and strangely enough Amorella used it in chapter nine, and I thought, I gave him chapters one through eight of book two, now here he is giving me a line or two in chapter nine of book three. I have to laugh because what else can you do, a coincidence, two in the same morning, but I’m sure it happens from time to time. Real life is like that. Real life is not a fiction like the books. Anyone in their right mind knows that, and I have my mind, thank you very much. (1311) . .

2037 hours. What was interesting about the episode with David’s voice was that it was a measurable phenomena both in duration as well as in mass size, and perhaps even in density. Three to four seconds from the first approach until it was over, that is, from within about a foot from my right side to four feet off my left side. A few seconds earlier when I wrote in Amorella’s diary:

“No one is an exception in these books. No one. Those names are capitalized because human beings are capitalized in my books. You feel the spirits. It is as though you are dead, but you are not."

Where I wrote, ‘You feel the spirits,’ for the next forty or fifty seconds until I finished . . .’ I felt an odd sensation I have not felt since the episode at the Mason cemetery during the 1988 mystical-like experience of several months where I wrote the letters. I described the situation later in book one, but I forget where. It was like the Dead rose on my left as I drove by [the cemetery]; an odd green, like an electro-magnetic disturbance in the ground. Again, it had measurable phenomena about it.

Then I had the four-second experience; then I began writing at 0948 hours. I had just heard David’s distinct voice. It sounded quite normal as a matter of fact, like he was in the same situation, suddenly he and others were projected through me. He said, “That’s Richard,” as he entered, and “Richard,” about a foot from my left side, and I know,” with “him,” coming at about four feet out. He was talking to someone on his right, or just behind him. It was not like a straight line of spirits but a grouped set of spirits flowing as a fast current tube of ‘river’. The tube was between two and two and one-half feet in diameter. It had a thickness, but it was extremely, extremely light in weight; five to ten times less dense than air. Obviously less dense than that because it passed right through right ribs, lungs, and then left ribs. It was not less than nothing though. I don’t know on the density, I don’t have words for it, but the whole experience was real enough. [It was] as real as [I am] sitting in the chair writing this.

Selected from my Notes 2005

         *** ***

1647 hours. This obviously is not the way I remembered the event an hour or so ago.

You learned something about yourself today. Nothing wrong with that, boy. Post. - Amorella

2146 hours. I have reread the 2005 posting a couple of times. I described the event as it was in much greater detail and much more accurate. I had forgotten much of the event. I know better than to rely on memory. This is the reason I write things down. The tone is consistent though. I am happy to see that.

Carol has been watching “Criminal Minds” and you want to go watch last night’s “Grimm”. – Amorella

2152 hours. I do wonder about my ‘experiences’. I cannot induce them though. I have tried. They are as uniquely ‘brought on’ as anything else. I can only assume it is caused by a mental element not working correctly from time to time. A short circuit that causes me to momentarily lapse into a flash of visual and audio thought, something similar to a dream. I have lived with it for most of a lifetime. No sense getting uptight about it now. It is so liberating to have these thoughts out there whether anybody reads them or not. Not all observations are reality. I do not talk to the Dead in real life, and really few talk back even in the ‘event’. Amorella talks through my fingertips, but this is liberating also. Each press of the keys knocks down part of my secret wall of imagination and supposition.
